Re: [B&N] Kids Event in September
So this was the final member of our LEGO Quartet today (4 LEGO events at various stores...) and a pleasant surprise. Event started at 3pm and we had registered over the phone earlier in the week. We arrived about 2pm and did some damage on our BN account with future Christmas presents. We went up to the children's area at 3pm and found one other dad and his son (~5yr old) already building. They were handing out set 20202 poly bag- The MBA Level 1 Kit 3 Robot Designer set. 155 pieces! Unfortunately the store only received one copy of the MBA instruction manual so we shared and built the same robot. We were there for about 40 minutes and nobody else ever showed up. I saw the sign up sheet and there were about 4 kids on it. The BN employee just gave us the bag and said 'have at it...' He came back once to check on all of us but didn't seem to engaged. Very different experience than the chaos at TRU that will detailed in another thread...
Re: [B&N] Kids Event in September
I am 31, remember that. So I was in the fire wheel, tx store on Friday looking for tiki guy and the guy in charge of it asked me if I wanted to sign up for it. He had said it was about 150 pieces and a robot. So I said sure, so he gets the book and the first page of 10 sign ups was full. And the second page. But the third page was empty. I was happy. So I show up the next day and see 3 tables surrounded by kids to build their robot. I froze for a second wondering what to do with this new information. Do I just leave? I was like why did he invite me since it was a kids things? Oh well, I had made plans to come build, I wanted my robot! So I got my robot and proceeded to one of the kiddie tables to build. Yes, there was only one book in the middle. The guy in charge was going around step by step showing us which pieces to use and how to build. Then one of the kids at the main table would build some then come show our table how to do it. I figured to have fun with no instructions and try to look at the bag to build the arms and legs. It took over an hour. But I had fun. Other than the 2 side tables without instructions, I think they kids were happy too.
