Make me a lego demon...

Post by Brickhead91 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:07 pm

Can you guys help me make this daemon? It's off warcraft orcs and humans (the original), and if you must know why i want this, i'm making a movie and i need this dude. The skill level required to build such a figure is quite high, too high for my liking hence the cry out for help.

Cheers

Oh and this is my first post...take it easy on me :what?: jokes!

Hi, Brickhead91 - welcome to TnB!

My best suggestion would be just to try building it yourself - and then improve it, and improve it and improve it. There are also plenty of people on Flickr who share building tips and tricks, full sets of instructions, or even complete MOCs in digital form (either LEGO Digital Designer or LDraw). I would peruse three groups for inspiration: LEGO Techniques, LEGO Instructions, and a group I formed to promote sharing of LDD files, The LEGO Exchange.

Also, I've moved this into the 'Building Tips and Ideas' sub-forum.

If you are looking for something larger than a mini figure....

I've seen two building techniques with respect to action figures so far

1) Use regular Legos and articulated joints, e.g. Creator Lego figures like the T-rex.

2) Use Lego Technic ball joints, e.g. Bionicle and Hero Factory Lego Series

The advantage for building technique #1 appears to be scalability - the size of the action figure can vary a great deal. The size of building technique #2 is more or less fixed because it is difficult to scale up the size of the hands, head, and feet using these parts. My guess is that technique #1 will cost more of the two and be a more complex build. For realism and just scariness - technique #2 wins out. Technique #1 probably has a greater potential for special effects because Bionicle and Hero Factory parts are not as flexible. By special effects I mean a close up scene where the demon might goggle up a minifigure.

Oddly - I haven't seen many action figures that use both techniques.

For building technique #1. If you aren't particular set on a particular color scheme would start by building a Gold Ninjago Robot (70505) and a Gold Ninjago Dragon (70503) from their respective kits, then I would morph - combine them together to make a golden demon. To make a red demon I would build the Creator T-Rex (6914)and the Creator Rescue Robot (5764) and then combine parts from both to make a red demon.

For building technique #2: If you only need one size then any action figure will do like Hero Factory Xplode (7147) will do as a starting point. However, if you need to scale up the action figure you'll need a action figure that has several version like Breez (7165, 6227,44006)
