Ebay and Lego Question

Post by mvas11 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 9:38 am

I have a question on what to do with a large sum of extra minifigures. Recently, I acquired a large lot of mixed legos off of craigslist. In that lot there were nearly 100 city themed minifigures. After my son and I sorted them we found out that we could not build any complete set (although we did get a city airport plane) and we should sell off some of the figures to regroup our costs. My question to everyone is do I sell them as one bid lot or break them into smaller lots. If i break them into smaller lots how many and should I do a lot of firemen, policemen, city workers, normal people etc. My sons are Lego fanatics and craigslist and yard sells are the only way I can afford their addiction so I' m trying to recover as much as I can in terms of cash. Any help would be great. Thanks for all your help and this really is a great site. The sales section alone has helped me get some great sets for christmas at great prices.

If you can spare the time, doing some research using the bricklink price guide would be time well spent. Some city figs are highly sought after. However you decide to sell them, you'll want to highlight those.

I was going to say something similar. I would figure out with comparisons of bricklink and ebay what you could expect in terms of returns. I would also look to see what moves/sells quickly, versus what hangs out unsold.

If you're looking to off some just to regroup your costs, I would sell the rarer/highly sought ones, and keep the others since they wouldn't net much.
