Eurobricks once again delivers a new rumored theme:
LEGO Galaxy Squad. Usually rumored themes from Eurobricks turn out to be authentic, so this is probably happening. Also, Bricklink and Eurobricks has some upcoming sets posted:
"
Galaxy Squad:
• 70700 Space Swarmer 9.99 €
• 70701 Swarm Interceptor 19.99 €
• 70702 Warp Stinger 39.99 €
• 70703 Space Mantis 49.99 €
• 70704 Vermin Vaporizer 69.99 €
• 70705 Bug Obliterator"
If you want some more speculation regarding this theme, head on over to it's Eurobricks Forum page:
http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.p ... opic=74020" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Personally, I think this theme is meant to replace the (not really) current LEGO theme, Alien Conquest. It'll surely be interesting to see how this pans out, but so far, a Eurobricks user has reported that: "
Its space based action theme (like world racers, Agents etc...) with childish figs and colorful vehicles fighting against some insectoid aliens (not 100% sure about this last)."

The set names make me think of Starship Troopers and Halo. I bet they will use a varation the CMF Space Marine fig.

It's probably wishful thinking, but the Space Marine's armor and helmet in Classic Space or Futuron colors would be utterly fantastic...

This sounds pretty awesome. I could use some alien insect minifigs for my collection!
I hope they loosely tie in this theme with Alien Conquest. Like if this were a different division of the ADU or something. It'd be nice for these themes to have some continuity and connectivity of sorts.

This is another miss.... Lego needs to expand on the classic space line '78 - '87 and hit 2 or 3 age generation's of buyers with one sure winner series. ADU was OK with the blue elements but just didn't go far enough.
I for one at 37 and my son at 7 would be all over a classic space reboot. They could set us both with one hook.

Really? You consider Alien Conquest 'a miss' and have already written this theme off before even seeing pictures? I'm a fan of Classic Space and Blacktron (obviously) and would love to see them get an upgrade, but I'm excited to see what this theme brings to the table. If we get more Galaxy Patrol style figures (as speculated) along with similarly themed vehicles for them, I'll be psyched.

Yes, I consider it a miss - The Alien Attack/Earth Defence was a one and done series - had potential again with the blue elements. If they would just do the smart thing and release a new Classic Space, it is a sure slam dunk money maker for Lego. Legomaniacs from age 6 to 40+ will be all over it.
As a small case example under my own roof, when I roll out my classic Lego sets - by far the LL 918, 924, 928 the galaxy explorer are the biggest hits. We're talking on par with Star Wars or better.
So from a "corporate" stand point, Lego Classic Space is a trusted and true winner. One catch is they would have to "unretire" the old light grey color.
Here's a sneak picture of Galaxy Squad (satierical of course):

This is from smashing bricks.com
“A new Space Theme too with Insects as the bad guys. and the vehicles match the incests like Mosquito guy. The Galaxy Space series is way better than AC or SP the vehicles are the shape of the bugs. Like flies, daddy long legs, mosquitoes.”
LEGO knows what it is doing, they make more money in a year that most toy companies. Kids will probably buy this and I like how Space changes a lot. My problem with Castle is that it never changes, always feel the same. To me this feels like Space Police and Incestides (Or whatever that late 90s theme was called).
I can't wait for pictures.

Ha! Cool throwback!
So, the speculation has turned away from Galaxy Patrol armor. That's the last I heard about it over at Eurobricks. The way it's shaping up, it sounds as though the "Galaxy Squad" is a team of "color-coded for your convenience" space pilots sort of akin to Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) or Voltron, with maybe a little bit of Thunderbirds thrown in for good measure.

I meant that as in "the original source of the info has stated that the figures don't have Galaxy Patrol armor". Could still just be test shots, though.

that's a kid's drawings. i highly doubt a concept artist would draw like that.

I think it's a drawing from someone that had seen the retail 2013 catalog.

If you check the brickshelf folder, you'll see the other "concept" arts. Notice that none of the sets match the one pager. It's clearly someone's imagination and not a retrace of the catalog.

There was a similar sketch for Monster fighters, pretty much all the sets have come true.

Uh... Comparing that drawing to the two just posted yesterday on The Brothers Brick:
Theme example 1 by
Happy Weasel, on Flickr
theme example 2 by
Happy Weasel, on Flickr
I can't help but notice neither is done in crayon.
but... Seems Legit!
I suppose it
could be based on glimpses of the retailer catalog, but the unified color scheme is counter to the description of each vehicle/pilot having a distinct color.
