2012 Summer Sets at Toys R Us in-store

Post by mah4546 » Fri May 11, 2012 4:29 pm

The 2012 summer sets have been shipped to Toys R Us stores, with a large number of them putting them on the shelves today. You can call ahead with the item number (the six digit number under the "Additional Info" tab on the product page at TRU.com) to check, and if you call one store, it does have the ability to check other stores.

All stores should have them on the shelves by next week. This includes Lord of the Rings, City Mine, Ninjago summer releases and Monster Fighters.

Personally, I'll be waiting for them to arrive at The LEGO Store, but I'll stop by my local TRU (which confirmed they have them over the phone) to check them out in person later today.

I'm interested in TRU getting them just to check out the boxes and see what other features are in some of the sets (Lego never sells their stuff right with their standard pics). The grossly overpricing ruins them getting them so much earlier. I'm going to be so broke with LotR AND the Monster Hunters hitting at the same time. I'll probably have to space them out a bit. I'll at least order some next week for the Hulk promo, that is, if Lego.com has them up by then.

I couldn't resist the Samurai Mech and Ultrasonic Raider even at markup. Too packed with win to resist.

I picked up the two smaller Mine sets since they were only marked up $1 and $2, respectively. So tempted to pick up others, but they will be at the LEGO Store any day now. I've never even seen LoTR, but the sets look awesome. As do Monster Fighters.

Found the City Mining sets at the TRU near the old Northridge mall in the Milwaukee metro area. I didn't see the Monster Fighters or Lord of the Rings though (probably a good thing, since it was already an expensive day with the LEGO Store Grand Opening).

Found the Monster Fighters and new creator sets at my local Toys R Us.

I called my local TRU and they said, "yeah, we don't have any of the new sets." So I called one 30 miles away and they connected me to someone on the floor, and she said "Well, we don't have LOTR or Monster Fighters or any of the big Ninjago sets, but we do have the Samurai Mech and the Bite Cycle." So I figure, why not, I'll drive there because I've been waiting for the Mech forever.

Got there and they had EVERYTHING. Full MF line, all the LOTR sets, all the new Ninjago stuff. I'm too ashamed to admit what my tab was.

Ya, calling Toys R Us (or any store for that matter), can be pretty hit and miss. I guess It depends which employee you get. Some are helpful while others will put you on hold and pretend to check if something is in stock, then tell you it isn't when they get back (when they haven't even really checked).
