This week from April 1 to 7, Toys R Us United States will be offering BOGO 50% off ALL LEGO again. This time however, there are even more exclusions. If you are into the popular themes like Star Wars, Superheroes, Friends, Ninjago and Technic, then you can drop your hopes as those are excluded. I'm not quite sure what they mean by "ALL LEGO" when they're excluding like 5 themes!

Considering just about everything desirable is either excluded or still out of stock from the last sale, I don't see this being a well-trafficked sale.

Also take note: looks like they bumped their free shipping threshold to $100. So you can't even take two City of Atlantis sets off their hands at a reasonable price without getting dinged on the shipping.

I also noticed that the"freeshipping" thru Shoprunner is pretty much a scam also. Yesterday it occurred to me that the only Lego products that had the Shoprunner option were the sets that were not BOGO. Shoprunner is a joke. Same thing today. Anything that is BOGO is not eligible. Anything that is not on sale is eligible.

It seems they exclude more themes with each sale. First it was just Star Wars and Friends. Then they added Super Heroes. Now they just added Ninjago and Technic!

All the Marvel sets are listed now - with their TRU tax markup. And they fixed it so that these are flagged as Super Hero sets - thus no BOGO.

My TRU had some Series 5 minifigures left (at "only" $2.99 each), and they were ringing up as part of the sale. There were no signs indicating that they would be. I didn't check Series 6, but they still had the TRU mark-up, so it wouldn't have been quite as good a deal.

Last time I went in (during the last minifigure sale), they had none to be seen from either series. But now they've suddenly found at least one case. Looked like it could even have been two.

My local brick and mortar has Fri-Sat only 30% off (inflated price) on Cars Bentley Bust Out, HF Corroder, and a few other very random things. It stacks with the BOGO. It ends up around 45% MSRP off if you buy two of something.

I'm curious if other's are actually buying at TRU even with this BOGO? I've not bought a single thing from TRU since their mega-price increases, nor do I plan on it. Even with BOGO, the discount ends up being like 10% off real MSRP. If the discount is that paultry I rather get VIP points from Lego or just wait for Target to have a sale, Walmart to Clearance / Price cut, Amazon to have a sale, B&N to have it, etc.... essentially forgetting all about TRU...

dont be so quick to write off TRU just yet. it is still the best place for exclusive sets and these are usually not marked up. i like the winter post office which is $10 below msrp and the shuttle adventure, mmv, tower bridge, etc... these are all at msrp. though i think this will change in the future. kingdom joust is $20 above msrp, vw van is also $15 above msrp, etc. so i think the future is indeed bleak. but other than TRU there really is no other options. probably S@H when there's double VIP and free shipping and exclusive mfs but we'll be kissing goodbye to 25% or higher d/c on these exclusive sets.

I agree in a sense... only prob is all those that are at or under MSRP I already have for my personal collection, and the ones I don't (Joust, VW Van), I will most likely wait on Amazon...

I think you are spot on about the Exlusives... 10% discount and above might be the trigger now for those :(

YMMV? I was in to grab something else and added two of the HF sets figuring they'd make good-value generic birthday party gifts for neighbor kids, but the cashier couldn't get the discounts to stack. (Which isn't to say there isn't a way, I just didn't have time for a whole big thing.)

Right there with ya! I went in for the BOGO on the series six this time. They were marked at 3.49 on the shelf and rang up at 3.99! They wouldn't honor the shelf price and I didn't want to waste the 45 minutes i'd already spent going throught them to find the ones I needed for my collection so I just sucked it up. After the "discount" they still came out to 2.99 each so at least I didn't pay more than MSRP. Only thing I'll be returning to TRU for is a 2 for $5 on the minifigures.
