What will the Imperial Flagship 10210 be worth?

With the retirement of the IF, how high do you think prices will go? I was fortunate enough to get one from Amazon for $149 in mid-December, though I should have waited because my local Lego store (Costa Mesa, CA) had a bunch for $125.99 on the 26th.

There are a few web-sites that track pricing on Amazon, which you could use as a guide.
One that I like is 'camel camel camel':

If you display the "3rd-party new" option, the max of the minimum recorded listing price was almost $355 prior to the set being listed by Amazon proper.

I consider Brickbeard's Bounty to be a comparable set, which trended between $160-180 this past holiday.

(roughly, a 60-80% premium over MSRP.) This would give IF a target of $290-324 once the reseller churn (folks that buy at a discount and then list it for sale right away) is burned through. It's already at $250 on amazon, so expecting $325 on Amazon sometime in the next 6-12 months is not unreasonable.

Note that Amazon 3rd party prices tend to be higher than Bricklink. So if you decide to buy/sell in the future, the price bought/sold at may vary significantly from the quick outline above.

Wow, thanks for the very intuitive/logical rationale in your response! I think that pretty much answers my question and provides a reasonably solid basis on which to base future buying/selling activity. Of course, with my luck, the Lego bubble will probably burst just when I start getting into buying/selling Legos (although I could then buy the older sets I want at a lower price).
