Lego Heroica - why not?

posted something similar in another forum and thought i would also post here for discussion.

what's your view on the heroica theme? ever since the lego game heroica, what i've found is that it's been quite popular with lego fans, but not as a stand alone game but more like an rpg...almost in the same format as the paper version.

by and large, it's a huge hit. why not just create a new theme called heroica? i would love to get the barbarian, knight, wizard, rogue, archer in mfs instead of the microfig. it'll be great! since you can keep producing new made up sets battling orcs, golems, giants, etc. the possibilities are endless.

heroes storming dangerous towers to rescue princess from evil orcs. or defending fortraan from evil orcs. etc. this theme should cater well to medieval fans. many of the heroes can be recycled into everyday folks and army builders can collect the knight char to make into battalions.

and when it becomes popular enough to stand alone, you can even start producing merchandises like the macro figure alarm clocks, or midi figure led torchlights, t-shirts, cookie cutter, ice cream molds.

every year you can have upgrades to the chars, like maybe new armor prints or new accessories, etc. to keep it alive even longer, they can even retire older chars, and introduce new chars every 3 years or 5 years. like maybe have a new female char to lure the girls in. or just keep expanding the merry band although that'll probably not work since it will grow to be too big.

then morph the brand into a big mmorpg called lego heroica online! it'll be like WoW except in lego bricks. it might even succeed where lego universe had failed. tie in every new expansion with say a new char, and a new set release...wow, if i were on lego's executive board, i would say i can already smell the money. :-P

I like the games a lot and hope they continue to release new ones. I agree that a full blown theme would tie in great. I'd buy 'em

I've never actually played any of the games, but Heroica does seem like it has the potential to be a very successful theme. I'm sure a lot of AFOL's would buy them simply from an army building and parts pack standpoint. Medieval-type themes always seem to be popular with kids, so the potential for a very successful theme is definitely there.

Heroica is pretty awesome and I hope they make more sets. They should also make a video game based on it.
I think they could just expand on their Castle line to give us some of the full size coolness that Heroica has introduced. Although my wishful priority for the Castle line is to add a whole Elf race. They had the minifig and I he's one of the most popular figures to be released. They need to give Elves a whole series like they did with Dwarfs including a fantasy white castle or LOTR-like structure.

It's Lego's take on Dungeons & Dragons. That's all that needs to be said.
