Just enough time for me to sneak in one last review, so I decided to review my last Toy Story set. I managed to get all of them, except the Pizaa Planet Truck, but since Rex is in this set too, I'm ok with that.
On to the review.
First up, the obligatory shots of the box, contents and instructions manuals. Here's box front:
And the back. The back highlights the play features, such as the trap door on top of the one car, and the fact that the other cars have removable rooks.
The contents of the box. You get two instruction books with different covers (indicating what you make with that book), 5 numbered bags, the magnetic train car attachment pieces in a seperate bag, and Woody, Jessie, Bullseye, Hamm, and Rex in seperate bags. Buzz is found inside bag #1. There are no stickers, so colour me surprised.
Here are the contents of bag number one, and the minifigures. This bag has the pieces for the caboose, and Buzz Lightyear. You also need a blue technique pin piece to attach Rex's tail.
The minifigures. From left, Buzz, Jessie, Woody, Rex, Hamm and Bullseye. You get all of the main character minifigures from the Toy Story line in this set. The only ones missing are Slink and the Potatoheads, who are not available in any set. If I am correct, Bullseye is only available in one other set (Woody's roundup) which is no longer available. Rex and Hamm are also only in a few sets, so if you want your main characters, this is one stop shopping. Hamm has no moving parts, but his hat (as evil Dr. Porkchop) comes off, as does his belly stopper. Rex has moving arms (but they are attached to each other so can't move individually) and legs and tail. Bullseye's legs move. Buzz, Woody and Jessie are basically the same as their earlier versions (not counting their dirty versions).
And from the back, side or bottom.
Now, onto the train. This is the base of the caboose, but it could be the base of any of the train cars, as they are all basically the same. You can see the magnetic couplings at the beginning and end of the car.
The bottom half of the walls are now attached.
The walls of the caboose are finished. Those numbers on the side are printed elements. Some people will love that, others will be upset they didn't use stickers, just proving you can't please everyone.
A quick shot of the wheels. That is a metal bar between the two wheels. I am not sure if that is the same system of wheels that other LEGO trains use as I don't collect trains, but they latch in to the bottom of the train cars quite well.

The contents of bag #2. This bag makes the next train car. Lots of green and brown.
The base of the car with the frist couple of layers of wall.
The walls completed. Lots of windows, and once again printed elements for the Great Western signs.
The completed car with extra piece to the side. Like the caboose, the roof of this car lifts off for play time.
The contents of bag #3. This bag makes the train car with the $ on the door. This car is pretty neat actually.
The front and back of the car, complete with barred up windows.
The sliding doors are now in place. The doors are a bit tricky to get in place, and are a bit stiff sliding at first, but the completed product looks very good, and works well.
The completed car. The mechanism on the top springs a trap door, and instead of being full of money, thie car comes with a whole lot of dynamite!
Bag #4 starts you building the train engine. Now I realize that this set is representing a toy train, so I have to take that into consideration, but after the really nice caboose and cars, I found the engine rather gaudy.
The engine doesn't have the same wheel system as the cars, so this the engine at an early stage of costruction.
More parts added on, you can see the controls of the train sticking up.
The rook of the cab in now completed.
The boiler is now completed and attached.
And the train engine at the end of bag #4, with extra pieces to the side.
The contents of the bag #5 which will give up the wheels of the engine and finish the train.
The wheel base for the back of the engine.
And attached to the engine with wheels on. This is in my mind a very odd design, as the engine is sitting on a swivel, and the train can bend back and forth. Real engines are one piece, and don`t do that, but there it is. Interesting that each of these wheels has a red elastic band around the rim.
And the finished train. Those two red wheels lying to the side, I have no idea what they are for, or why they are in the bag, as they weren`t even listed in the parts listing at the back. The brownish piece on the ground to the front is for Bullseye when no one is riding him. Why they stuck it in bag 5 is a mystery.
And the complete train with minifigures. The engine looks cheesy, but the overall set is very nice.
Some ratings:
Minifigures: 5/5. As mentioned, you get every main character that is available, and they are very nice.
Parts: 4.5/5. Nice selection of parts, magnetic train couplings, and printed tiles.
Play features: 4.5/5. Trap doors, removable roofs, dynamite, its all good.
Price: 3/5. Even with all the unique pieces and train parts, this is a very expensive set.
Overall (not average) 4/5.
Final thoughts. This set recreates the opening sequence of Toy Story 3, and has a lot going for it. I recommend it, but wait for a sale.

Nice review, we just finished building this today actually and I just spent 10 minutes going through the manuals trying to figure out WTH is with the two spare wheels! I'm glad I'm not going crazy and they really are some sort of extra part....weird. 
I LOVE the fact that there were no stickers. My 6 year old was able to do most of it by herself.
I thought the way the rear wheels attached to the engine was also a little odd...it seemed very loose and I wonder if it will hold up to play.
