[CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
I was at Markville Mall's Walmart earlier and I found 3181 Passenger Plane on special or something selling for $30; regular Canadian retail price is $54.99 for this set. As of probably around 7:15pm, there were probably at least 12 sets on the shelf. Not sure how long this price is for though.

It does list it as $30 dollars on the Walmart website. This might be the time for me to pick this up. http://www.walmart.ca/Toys/Building-Set ... nger-Plane" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some stores have Creationary for $34 and Slave I for $60.
Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
Thanks for the tip. I picked up one for $30.

Yeah I picked up a Slave I for $60 at the new Kitchener Ontario Walmart. Still three more left, though the boxes are a bit sub-par.

Man Toys R Us Canada sucks. Nothing for Canada day, nothing for the last 2 weeks and for this week's flier that runs for 2 weeks (July 8-21), theres no sale on LEGO again.r1chard wrote: but since Canada day is Friday next week, maybe they're cooking something for that event.
I was hoping for a 25-30% off Creator sale so I can pickup the Maersk Train and Pet Shop, but guess not now. :(

Yeah, given all the deals TRU has had in the States these last few weeks, they are really sticking it to us Canadians with no sales at all...Ice wrote:Hodgeman wrote:If I read their flyer correctly for this week (June 24 - June 30) there is NO LEGO on sale this week. LEGO, it's not just a toy, it's an addiction... ;)

Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
Slave 1 disappeared from both my local Walmarts a few weeks back. And they had lots of passenger planes just last week, but they have all mysteriously disappeared as well. I suspect a conspiracy.Ice wrote:Some stores have Creationary for $34 and Slave I for $60.

I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!
Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
It wasn't me. I only bought one. There were a couple left on the shelf the other day. Gotta be fast with sales. I suspect some people buy multiples.hatcher wrote:Slave 1 disappeared from both my local Walmarts a few weeks back. Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
That's just it. They disappeared from the shelf BEFORE I heard about the price reduction. I would have cleaned them out if they had any left, I've been waiting for both of those to be discounted. Oh well.

Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
for those in southern scarborough and east york, the eglinton store has several slave 1's left after I bought two. At 45% off, its a great deal and similar to the final discounted price I got at borders in the US but not enough for me to buy the whole lot. This set should have been $10-20 lower for the cdn retail price (exchange accounts for -$10 and price point another -$10). I was suprised this wal mart store had lots of these $110 sets sitting around for markdown. Perhaps the average neighbourhood was a factor. I did not see the passenger plane set.

I agree. This might actually make finally pull the trigger on Slave 1. Way overpriced for sure.ricefields wrote:This set should have been $10-20 lower for the cdn retail price (exchange accounts for -$10 and price point another -$10).
Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
I brought the Slave I last year when it first came out during Zellers BOGO. It is overpriced even at 25% off for $82.49 (not even the US MSRP). What sucks even more is that I had to buy 2 to get the full 25% off. Now I have an extra copy collecting dust. :(
Oh well, glad you guys were able to get this set for $60 (its a really good deal). :) I don't have the previous Slave I sets, but I think this one is really nice and the minifigures are great (especialy Boba Fett and the Han Solo Carbonite thing).

Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
My guess is that they put it at that price point to capitalize on the somewhat 'rabid' Star Wars/Boba Fett fanatics. For the same reason there are a million different Millenium Falcon sets, just on a smaller scale.
Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
There were a few Slave 1's available in the Ottawa area so I picked 3 up. If anyone can't find em I'm selling them at close to cost for $70(taxes included which is a total of $67.80 based on original cost) + shipping on a small bricklink account (Brick Canuck) I set up. Trying to build my bricklink rep up, I figure there could be money to made if I keep collecting more discount sets. Although I think I should probably wait a year so they go up in value.
I also saw the 8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ on clearance for $30 which I think is way better value for parts. Slave 1 is quite overpriced, but I think the value is more in the unique parts.

Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
the slave 1 is not a hot set anymore so I would wait until this christmas or 1-2 years from now to sell. No one from states would buy it since they can get it for $60 at 25% off and there was one on ebay.ca last week in which the winning price was $56 plus $19 for shipping within canada, which I was suprised how low the winning bid was. I was bidding on it but stopped at $50. Good selling prices in australia and uk for about $90-100cdn but you cannot compete on shipping which will cost you 2-3x more than the local sellers. Therefore only market is ontario?quebec that cannot find one at $60.
Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
Yah your right, it will take a few years to become worth it. I saw a slave 1 2nd gen selling between 150-200 on bricklink. And that set is like 5 years old. I think I kinda got that collector fever all of sudden thinking this might be worth a lot more in a few years. Still I like the idea of having multiple sets as I can find more uses for having more copies of the same parts. Also Boba Fett was my ultimate favourite Star Wars figure.
Re: [CAN] Walmart rollback for 3181 Passenger Plane
LOL Welcome to the club... I think there is a time in every AFOL's life where they decide to become a collector and eventually 'reseller'... mainly just to recoup the cost of your own personal collection :P
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
