10231 Shuttle Expedition Replacing 10213 Shuttle Adventure

Lego 10213 is sold out but a new replacement called Lego 10231 Shuttle Expedition is coming out soon. Has 1230 pieces which is 26 more pieces than the old one. Age is 14+ instead of 16+. Simplified build maybe?

Interesting that they used a different name, but I guess it makes sense if they also changed the set number.

I'm sure this set just uses the updated design and pieces of the External Fuel Tank - I'd say 26 is about right for the new pieces in the service pack.

Probably going to be nearly entirely the same as the old one.

The rear landing gear looks different in the picture of 10231. The old 10213 has a 2x4 tile on the landing gear.

I happened to have a chat with the 10231 designer, and among the things mentioned here, he also stated that the doors were redesigned.

And also that it was a pure coincidence that the last two numbers are (annoyingly) reversed - it just happened to be the next number :P
