This review is for Lotso's Dump Truck, which I picked up a while ago for $7.50 at K-Mart. It's a pretty enjoyable set, and necessary for any Lego Toy Story collector with the only Chunk, Stretch, and clean Lotso being in this set.
Here are the characters:
The big bear himself, with his cane. His face hides an evil soul.
The henchman, Chunk, and henchwoman, Stretch.
I like that you can change Chunk's face and switch out his arms. "The Dark Side is strong within him."
And last (and probably least), the driver. I think he's supposed to be a Little Tykes figure.
Here's the chassis as I start to build the truck.
And the turning mechanism. The only part I don't understand is the rubber piece there. Why is it there? It doesn't really keep the bed of the truck in the correct position - it already reverts to the position normally. It seems to only make the truck bed harder to dump. That's my only complaint, though.
Here is where the driver sits. Boy, it looks quite cramped. Good think he doesn't have any arms or legs to get in the way!
And here is the whole truck. It's a decent size for a construction area. And the best part is...
... a minifigure can fit! No modification required, thankfully. It's a tight sqeeze, but it's manageable.
"Space Police is seizing this truck as evidence" - only because he's the most convenient figure I had around when I took this photo.
And here is everyone with the finished set.
Pros:
Good number and unique selection of figures.
It's a vehicle with a function - the bed tilts back and forth.
I got it at a bargain.
Cons:
Normally $20 - kind of high, but that's (unfortunately) normal for Lego.
No normal minifigures.
Overall, I'd say get it if you can find it a bit lower than MSRP. It's definitely a good set.
