Background:

Since the TRU Truck was so cool, I figured this one with an actual shipment of Legos had to be a nice addition to my City collection. As I always do, snagged it on a discount. Instead of following facebook and clicking refresh, I watch the sales/deals forum and click refresh over....and over....

Minifigs:

(Sorry so blurry, I'm a vampire so close up in my bad lighting is tough... new camera soon!)
Trucker
Deliver Guy in Overalls w/red Cap

2 Minigs for this set isn't bad. Hard to incorporate more into a Truck.

Instructions:

1 small book. Parts listed for each step makes it easy to follow and make sure no extra, extra parts.

Parts/Stickers

There aren't many special pieces in this set. The dolly and the stickers and the joint on the trailer are the most uncommon ones. I'm sorry i didn't get a pic of the sticker sheet alone before putting it on. There are very few, and they are pretty easy to put on.

Construction

And off we go.

This is the base of the cab. Solid, sturdy.

Cab TV.jpg
Inside of the cab is pretty sweet. Cup to keep the Coffee for those wicked long night stretches. Included is a bed for when you need some shut-eye, or even a nice flat-screen TV to catch the latest episode of Ice Road Truckers.

And the Cab is now complete with base and wheels. If you have the TRU Truck, it's trailer can also be towed by this cab! The mirrors move and are pretty sweet, the entire cab is pretty accurate. Love the giant Lego sticker on the front. Onto the Trailer.

Trailer Back.jpg
The trailer is very quick and easy to build, the most complicated part is the back wheels. The kick-stand for the trailer is very cool and works like a charm. So much room, you could fit armies of minifigs in them.

Summary

Building: 3.5 / 5
Appearance: 5 / 5
Pieces: 3 / 5
Value: 3.5 / 5
Playability: 3 / 5
Overall: 3.5 / 5

Building: Very easy build, only draw back is 1 booklet doesn't let 2 people work on the cab and trailer at the same time.

Appearance: It is, what it is: a freight truck. It has an accurate and crisp look, doesn't go overboard. Love the striking Lego brand logos.

Pieces: This set doesn't have many rare/uncommon pieces, and the pieces it does have can be used for other builds, so I gave it average marks.

Value: I peg good PPP at $0.10. This set is only $0.107 and if you get any discount to buy it (which you should always do unless it's discontinued!), it makes the value even better.

Playability: I base the value on this on the set by itself, so it can be fun alone, but I definitely recommend another truck and/or City sets to go along with your imagination.

Overall: The set is pretty neat, and is a nice add-on piece. Would I purchase the set solo out of the blue without anything to go with it? Probably not. I love the look of the truck, but it's not enough to bring it's overall score higher. So If you have other City sets to play with, I would recommend getting it this as a GREAT addition to your collection... just don't start your collection with it :D

I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
