Re: Gates?
Placing archways together you could form a gate of your own. After putting the archways all you have to do is to put some plates or tiles behind it and have it open inwards.
Or if you want to use some doors from the Battle of Alamut you're going to have to pick them up from Bricklink most likely, or just buy the set.

Re: Gates?
I wouldn't categorize the entryway of Battle of Alamut to be "gates" but more "heavy doors". However, if you wanted to make a gate, these pieces look perfect.
Re: Gates?
I'd suggest using a lot of 1xX plates-have one direction (up or sideways) in front, the other in back. Tiling it would be useful, in order to make a smoother slide. I'm not exactly sure of the size difference and offsets, but you could make something work. And those alamut doors are not gates-Gates are ones such as from 6090 and the Kingdoms Castle.
Re: Gates?
If you're looking for the Alamut style heavy doors, Mill Village Raid 7189-1 also includes them.
You might check out the instructions for the set Whitecap Bay 4194-1 - it has a cool set of brick-built doors which might give you some ideas. If you want rectangular doors, just replace the rounded plate with a second square plate.
