Desk Business Card Holder 850425

Post by StClair » Sun Jul 06, 2014 7:34 pm

Desk Business Card Holder 850425
Pieces: 150
$14.99 retail (US)
Ages: 6+
released in 2012
2 minifigures
No stickers

Back of box showing contents of "parts" (except for minifigures that are on the right side)

Inside the box there are 3 bags

Imageletters_103_2049 by ponderingzissou, on Flickr

Here I have separated all printed tiles that are included
Symbols and misc are on top rows
Numbers below that
All letters are at the bottom in alpha order with the last half of the alphabet being below the first half (hope that makes sense).

Most letters have quantity of x2. Only a few have quantity of x3. Unfortunately "u", "y" and "z" have only a quantity of x1.

Here are the contents of a second bag (minifigures and unprinted parts)

The last bag contains x1 "business card" and instructions for the build

1 of 2 of completed build with 1 of 2 included workers included. The reverse side of the card is the "business card" in which one would write their information.

2 of 2 of completed build (back view) with second of 2 workers included.

I attempted to make a "card" with usernames that I use here and on other sites. The "c" in stclair is a "u" on its side because I ran out of "c" tiles. "ponderingzissou" is missing "r" entirely because I could not think of a good substitute. I had to use a "5" for "s" and "v" for "u" because I used my only "u" to represent a "c"

Closing
I'm not sure if this product was created as a novelty product for very young one's to create their own business card for use in pretend play or if was created for an older audience as a way of selling printed tiles with numbers and letters. Perhaps it was marketed for both.

I'm happy that the printed tiles were made available because I plan to use the letters and numbers in future MOCs as details such as addresses on buildings but I wish that the product could have been sold at a cheaper price or included slightly more printed tiles for the price. I was able to buy it at a LEGO store for $11.99 (It is currently available in their online shop as well at a discounted price).

Pros:
Useful tile parts
Additional parts are at least useful brick parts in various common colors

Cons:
Minifigures are very common (I would have preferred a lower price and NO minifigures for this particular product).
Quantity of each printed tile (Many will want to purchase x2 of this product for more letters)

This is my first review for toysnbricks. Feedback and advice is welcome although not needed. I hope the review was useful to those (like me) that considered the purchase but wasn't able to see the back of the box to see the quantity of tiles :-D
On toysnbricks I am stclair. My flickr account though shows my real name and a second username "ponderingzissou"

Thanks! This is a great review! I need to get this but I got distracted by Pick a Brick and the horses. At the 3 LEGO stores I've been to within the past 2 weeks, these went on sale for about $12. I need to get this one day, maybe when PaB has more boring parts

Oh, and if I was to get this, I'd have to buy 2 due to small quantities of each letter. I also want that female face and the printed "LEGO" piece.

It's odd that this has a printed LEGO logo tile, but the LEGO Store grand opening set has a sticker.

I actually also get two of it for the letters. And its true that the mini figure included is very basic one, but is the same one as the pencil holder, I would like to be different for each set of the desktop accessories.

Wow...That would suck if you messed up on the sticker.

Good review. I got about 4 of them. The letter tiles are ready handy for various MOCs.

Well done review! I bought two of these through the LEGO site when they were discounted in the spring. My husband & I use them as placesettings on our kitchen table. We added a description to our 1st names & then decorated then with other LEGO parts. I used the holder part for a 1970s 3.5" x 5" photo.

Great review.

I am sure that everyone knows, but it is now on sale: 11.98 (u.s.) both on line and in store. Not a bad price, though you are really paying for the letters as most of the bricks are pretty run-o-the-mill.

I guess I'll be stopping by my local Lego store tonight.
