Lego Mindstorms?

I'm intrigued why there are no posts on Lego Mindstorms. I am interested in buying the EV3 and was looking for advice on whether it is easy for a newbie like me to be able to build one and program it to do things.

Anyone know anything?

No success with anyone? I've had a look around to see about this programming thing. It looks okay, I might just risk it. I have one in queue, but we're saving it for the next birthday before we open it. I'll be able to give better feed back in May.

I've heard mixed reviews from two colleagues (both are engineers) that have kids. One kid--the older one--loved the NXT 2, the other--younger one--was "meh" about the NXT 3. So I do think whoever is building it will enjoy it more if they are a bit older.

IIRC, the programing language uses LabView. http://www.ni.com/academic/mindstorms/, and is GUI-based. I have no personal experience with it to share, though, Again, my work colleague with the older child raved about the LabView with the NXT2---thought it was great that kids were getting exposure to a good programing environment.

Ok, thanks for the reply. It does look great for kids, but I don't want them to get bored if it's too hard. Maybe i'll wait for you in May unless someone else posts something. Who have you bought it for? What age?

By the way, that youtube video was awsome! Very funny. Something to aspire to.
