Target will not give you a price adjustment on an item that is clearanced, at least not under store policy. However, you can purchase at the discount and return with your old receipt, assuming they still have some in stock.

Since they way most stores handle a price adjustment is to return at the higher price and resell at the lower price, sometimes it will sneak by the cashier on a discontinued item, but by store policy they aren't supposed to do it. If they figure out what you are doing, they will tell you this, although they know you are just going to go purchase the item at the discounted price and return it at the full price anyway. It's a silly policy, but that's their policy.

I agree with you meyer. That is why I just avoid the whole "Price Adjustment" lingo at all.

I just ask for a return, and when they try to throw the items back into the restocking buggy, I will tell them to hold on, and that I would like to purchase it. That way they really have no right to give me any grief. I will admit I haven't really looked deep or hard into Targets return policy but I would venture to say there is no clauses about 'seasonal items being non-returnable', so they can't really STOP you from doing it unless specifically in their return policy.

They COULD bust it out on you if it exists... I just don't think it would be worth it for them to cause a big stink and bad publicity of angry customer not being able to return something WITH a reciept over a few dollars.

I've adopted this kind of Return/Rebuy policy after my experience with the Christmas sales.... So often I couldn't do a "Price Adjustment" for one reason or another, but I was ALWAYS able to just Return and then Repurchase... So now instead I just do what I KNOW they will do (return) and then just rebuy.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Read the store policy. It says clearanced items can only be returned at the last sale price (ie discounted price). The issue here is that the return cashier usually gives you the actual price on the receipt. If you do the return repurchase too often to the point where they recognize you then you become s-o-o-l.

Advise is don't do it for a few dollars. Besides think of the gas you're wasting. $4 per gallon?! Really?

Ya, but I understand that as "Items purchased when the item was ON clearance" rather than an item that has just gone to clearance. So my strategy still works... honestly I think of it as a GOOD thing if they know you... they know what you're there to do, and rather than fight with you, just try to get you out of there ASAP.

Think about it like this: They could sell you ANY item in the store, turn around and make it clearance in order to reject your return. That is most certainly illegal, and begs for a lawsuit.

I have seen the lame firemen set and Star Wars set but neither Target near me has the turkey dragon set. One however has the ripoff TS Army Man mini jeep polybag for $4. Might as well just buy the $11 set with 4 minifigures and a better jeep.

The Targets here haven't had any of those polys for weeks. They even changed the tags at their spots. And off topic but has anyone seen CMF 4 at Target?

I believe it is 204000074.

Do you have a link to search inventory? I used to have one bookmarked but lately it hasn't been working.

I haven't seen S4 at Target, I've looked in the Easter section/regular Lego aisle/checkouts.

Thanks. Good to know it's not just here although I don't really need anymore but I can't resist looking when I see them :geek: The link I had for the inventory search doesn't work anymore either.
