Double VIP Points: October 2014 LEGO Promotion

I visit frequently 2 of my local stores plus discovery center and usually couple orders per month on line, I am VIP, I never heard of triple points, 15% off? I'm about to call woodfield ,IL store right now....

I just spoke with Sue, I know her for years, it's funny, I see those people come and go and I'm still here, still LEGO :) some of them call me by my name they know me so well, anyway:
No triple VIP points this year, she confirmed that they had it last year (confirming TO ME that she knew about 3xVIP). I asked her that if they would have it around Black Friday, would she know by now, and she said that she would already know if they had it but instead she said that it will be double VIP in store and on line- I didn't ask which exactly day/days.
Speaking of invitations, I got one 2 years ago for week or day before Black Friday, that year had one free set so that's what I got with couple other little things...

So is it invite only? and only available in-store? (so no online orders)? Anyone know?

No, it was available online. I ordered Orthanc from my parents house. I don't think it required any special invitation either.

Ya, last year the triple VIP points was an early Black Friday deal because I ordered the Ewok Village online the Monday before Black Friday and got triple points on it. Don't remember it being an exclusive invite or anything special like that; just the regular VIP email. I'm kind of hoping they do it again this year. Multi-VIP points are great times to get the larger LEGO exclusives that is against their policy to discount now. :(

Right, the 3xVIP points was not invite-only, just the in-store pre-BF early opening event was. I'm trying to get the dates straight, but it appears the in-store event and 3xVIP points were on the same day last year, I just can't tell if it was the weekend before BF or the same weekend...

Basically, the only thing I'm not clear on was whether or not the 3xVIP points promo and the "Holiday Set 2 of 2" promo overlapped for all customers. I don't think they did, as last year Thanksgiving was so late that Black Friday was the 29th, which would mean the 3xVIP points was available on November 23rd to all customers and the "Holiday Set 2 of 2" was available on the same day ONLY to invitees to the in-store VIP early-access event. It was then available to everyone the next weekend but the 3xVIP promo was not. There was that $10 promo gift card that then expired by the first of the new year. So, there you have it... I think I have it straight, and my initial post that I crossed out still stands:

If they do 3xVIP points this year, there are a few things to bear in mind about last year:

• It was only the Saturday BEFORE Brick Friday weekend, online and in-store
• The "Holiday Set 2 of 2" was available on Brick Friday weekend online or in-store
• The "Holiday Set 2 of 2" was also available at the VIP-invite-only event in-store

So, assuming they do the 3xVIP promo again the same as last year, the only way for you to get both 3xVIP points AND "Holiday Set 2 of 2" in the same transaction is to be invited to the in-store event. Otherwise, you'll have to make two purchases, one the weekend before Brick Friday for 3xVIP and again on Brick Friday weekend to get the promo set.

I read somewhere yesterday, based on a conversation with a LEGO Store manager, that they will NOT be doing a 3xVIP promo this year, but that there will be a 2xVIP promo again - either the weekend before or the weekend of Brick Friday.

I was looking at my order history and last year the 3xVIP points and the Holiday Set 2 of 2 did overlap (as well as the Clone Trooper Lieutenant) the weekend before Black Friday (my order was put in late Saturday night). Last year though the 2nd Holiday set didn't have such a limited time frame of availability though.

Thanks everyone for looking for answering and sharing. I had forgotten about the $10 card... was not pleased with that.
