[Canada] Zellers BOGO 50% off ALL LEGO*

It's the same deal with the stores around me here in Toronto (Scarborough). Alien Conquest, Cars, and even Prince of Persia. I don't even bother with Zellers anymore.

@brandon: thanks for the coupon! Added to 2 of the 2012 vehicles, extremely great deal when one of them is the ambulance which has disappeared from all stores for quite some time.

@ice: I'm sorry about your experience but the zellers I've been to are reasonably stocked. I've seen all that you mentioned and many of them are still available. If you're looking for the new Marvel sets, I'm betting my house that zellers will not have them at all because January was the last order came in (I saw staff unpacking Lego boxes around that time, that really gave me a big ) Like I just said to brandon I was still able to get the 2012 ambulance, that was a proof. I am just hoping that you don't set your expectations too high because, well, zellers was never a great seller to begin with, and most of the stores are already in the last phrase. On the other hand, for walmart though, I would say exactly what you've said about zellers. Walmart's stock has been depressing around my area and the rollback / "clearance" items are always the same - for months! Ultimate Build Mater is always there for sale like it's garbage (a great set!) and nobody cares. The "clearance" price for Rise of the Sphinx is $50 Several real clearance items at other locations are always marked at msrp I don't bother looking at their Lego anymore except for the mcdonalds coffee that makes it one stop for all.

^Yep, I was planning on getting two $24.99 vehicles with the coupon too. That makes it about 35% off each? I don't think I ever saw the ambulance at the LEGO Store.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it is a shame that Zellers does not carry baseplates, preferably the XL ones. Would love to get a few of those for 25% off.

Nice! Which Zellers was this? The stores near me are never well stocked. The only $24.99 City set I saw was Garbage Truck and that was it. Guess its just my stores that seems to be having trouble keeping the good sets instock.

Richmond Zellers had a somewhat good selection to choose from. They had the Police Station, Harbour, Forest Police Helicopter, X-Wing, Geonosian Cannon, TIE Fighter and other miscellaneous 2012 sets. No sign of battle packs or $24.99 City vehicles. :(

Yes the clerk on the phone told me they had no battle packs or superheroes sets. If your looking for $24.99 vehicles, I think Metrotown had 1 Garbage Truck on Friday. I will have to double check Brentwood.

I did however paid a visit to Oakridge Zellers again today and there was like no one in the LEGO department. The selection was pretty much the same like the other stores. Meanwhile at the LEGO Store, its packed with people even when its about to close at 6pm. I also saw there was a small lineup setup earlier near the front of the store. Its amazing that all these people are still lining up to pay full price when they can get it for BOGO at Zellers. (well maybe not the very new sets )

They did have the Superheroes ultra-builds (they look ugly) and I really don't want to travel all the way to Metrotown or Brentwood to get a LEGO set. :S

It was a good news that people were there to spend money. We need plenty of these supporters to keep the store running. Besides, it was long weekend, these shoppers may come from outside of Vancouver city. Some of them may not be the frequent lego buyers, who were not aware of deals around us. I still remember I was also emotional to pay full CDN MSRP for 8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter and 6212 X-Wing Starfighter when I was totally enchanted and poisoned by these two sets during my dark age.

Yes I also found many people are willing to pay full price for Lego. At Lego store there're always parents / friends of parents buying gifts and I noticed that what they buy can usually be found at nearby retailers for lower prices. The Lego store staff are really good at getting them to buy something (well, they got me to buy something too just last week ) Speaking of economic problems, the Lego store reflects none.

Well, it's the novelty of shopping at a LEGO brand store, plus the fact that most of the people that buy LEGO as gifts don't necessarily buy LEGO on a regular basis the way we do, so they don't have a problem paying full price. Obviously we need to budget our money more simply because of the frequency at which we would make LEGO purchases, so bargain hunting has become engrained in our whole process.

It's like if someone wanted to buy an iPod for a gift, chances are they'll head to an Apple store, even though iPods are sold at other major retailers.
