20mins to go, and only 80 people in line.

I ended up coming in an entrance at the back of the mall between Nordstrom and Macys.
Wow, it seems like the other stores aren't as busy as Oakridge. When there was still half an hour to go at, there were already like 300-400+ people in line!
That was good news for those of you waiting. I think the nice weather here caused many people (obviously non-diehards) to skip it. Most people probably went to the Cape/Maine/NH for the long weekend. Also with 3 other stores in the area, many people probably didn't think of going.

On Friday I arrived at 10 and there was no one waiting to get in the store, not that a T-shirt warrants waiting in line. ;-)

I wonder if they had store sets left today!

Did anyone else go Sat or Sunday? How far along was the Sponge Bob on Saturday? They were just getting to his teeth on Friday.

Might be because this is the fourth store in the Boston area and/or because it's a holiday weekend (northbound traffic was insane), but it still felt pretty busy, with the queue for the register wrapping around the store within a few minutes and making it really awkward to browse.

An hour later, the line was still around 70 people...

...although gone by noon, as folks with kids had moved down to the SpongeBob build, where Master Builder Chris Steininger was giving out a ton of sets (my kid scored a Skull Truck :-D ).

So other than laojing and myself, did any other TnBers make it?

It seems like there's at least a dozen or so of us within driving distance.

^ Thanks for the pics!

I was planning on going Saturday, but we ended up having plans out-of-town. Fortunately, I was able to volunteer on Friday and help out with the Sponge Bob build. I was able to work with Chris for the day and I met a lot of nice folks.

I had planned on taking my daughter up today to work on Sponge Bob, but it's almost an hour drive each way and it is so beautiful out, I decided to skip it. Seeing your pics, GuaranteedUnity of the Sponge Bob makes me wish I just did the drive. It sounds like you had fun GU, and they also raffled off sets on Friday. Overall it is a very cool experience so I do recommend these Grand Openings.

The northbound traffic was horrid Friday morning and it took me an hour and 15 minutes to get there, when technically it should be 45-50 minutes.

Thanks for the pics. I keep complaining about this, but at least your store is DEEP. Vancouver's store has a large width but not deep enough.

By the way, GuaranteedUnity, were you the first one in line? What time did you arrive?

I'm just curious because my original plan was to arrive by 7:30 or 8 and that likely would have been a long/unnecessary wait in line by the sounds of it! ;-)

Oh and another interesting fact that I did not know is that Chris' dad is also a Master Builder, which is kind of cool. A love for LEGO must run in the family!

Most definitely...

I got there at 9:30 and was 80th(ish) in line ( I only know because an AFOLer behind me decided to count to see if he still had a chance at getting the promo ;-) ).

A friend got there at 8:55 and was 20th(ish), so getting there earlier wouldn't have gained you much more than bragging rights.
