legohunter wrote:Exactly, that's why I am not too excited for BOGO deal unless I need to pick up two same set, and it is rare. The last advantage I took from BOGO was a purchase of two battle packs.
There is an occasional chance I want 2 different but same priced sets.
last thursday i got a crawler crane and a marina, both priced at $49.99, so i got them both at 25% off.

Edit: technically i got the crawler crane around 37% off MSRP

I also think TRU does a lousy job of advertising the sale instore. For B1G1 90% off, there were NO signs at all at my store. I told 2 people in the aisles about the sale b/c they were looking around in the Lego aisle and they had no idea. On Saturday I was confused if the sale was even on and asked an employee and he had no idea either. Of course when I got to the register all rang in fine. If you scan them at the scanner it says "lego promo" but I wasn't sure if that was the Hero Factory Notebook or the B1G1 deal.

This can be the case, but the last time they had the BOGO50 on Atlantis and Pharaoh's Quest, I wanted 'Deep Sea Raider', the $30 pricepoint ATL set as opposed to the $20 'Angler Attack', and desired 'Flying Mummy Attack', the $20 pricepoint PQ set over the $30 'Cursed Cobra Statue', so I took a slightly smaller discount on the two sets that I truly wanted. As opposed to maximizing the discount on two sets, one of which I didn't want as much.

All four, however, were MSRP at my location, so it was a true discount - not a 'TRU discount' ;)

BOGO sales tries to get you to buy more and most people don't buy sets of equal value because its hard to match the price point sometimes (especially with different Toys R Us markups). A Buy 2 & Save a certain percent off sale is better. Of course, the best sale is just a straight off discount.

Toys R Us in Canada isn't much better. They didn't even post any sale signs when they had Buy 2 & Save 25% off LEGO Star Wars. Not quite sure what's the point of them having a sale if they don't plan on advertising it instores.

The only stuff I buy from Toys R Us are their exclusives unless of course, its a 50% off clearance deal or something.

Frustrated, try driving to a TRU and the personnel look at you like you are insane when you tell them you came for the BOGO sale that TRU emailed you about.

Thanks for burning gas for nothing TRU.

The associates don't know anything.
If you scan them they show the BOGO 50%

Nope, did that at the price scanners. Every other BOGO it was followed with something like "SPCL OFR" and this time, squat.

I'll save my money for the Lego convention then.
