I think there are two ways:gabriellee11 wrote:Can you explain me more about how you get the same discount on a similar item? So, do you pretty much take the raincheck with the item you want to get the discount on a similar item to the cashier? Do you need to get approval from a manager? Do you do with the printed raincheck or the raincheck that is hanging on the shelf?atmail35 wrote:By the way, I grabbed a raincheck for the Fire Station (which was sold out) since the raincheck tickets allow you the same discount on another "similar" item. I think I'll only get 10% off, but it's handy to have in case I need something else.
I do wonder if they are out of the $8 sets if they'd offer a raincheck that would give a bigger discount on another Lego item.
1) My Target had some sets marked as a replacement for out of stock ones. I think for the Fire Station it was a TS3 set. That was already marked down by the same %.
2) You can take a raincheck slip off the pad and bring it to any cashier who will print a raincheck for you. This printed register slip should say in most cases, "Choose a Subsitute" - I think you bring that slip and the item you want to buy and they should mark down the item. It says it needs to be a regular priced item so if the set you want is already 5% off, I'm not sure if they will take the 10% off the regular price or not allow it.
You might be able to do it in one transaction. Bring the raincheck from the shelf pad, tell the cashier, this item was out of stock, can I get a raincheck and buy this other item at the same discount.
I've never actually redeemed a raincheck, so I'm not 100% sure. I don't know if the manager gets involved. Good luck!
