Questions about the Orlando, FL/Downtown Disney Lego store

Sorry this didn't make it out sooner but have been busy getting re-established after the trip
and taking care of some birthday parties!

The newly remodeled Lego store at Downtown Disney is definently an improvement over the previous store. Overall, I felt that the store has a lot of the same features as before but was expanded to better accommodate the crowds. The center area of the store is more open now which improves movement around the store. There is also 3 checkout areas instead of 2! Even so the PAB area and the store in general can get pretty crowded in the evening with all the people that visit Downtown Disney.

The Pick-A-Brick wall was extensive. One thing I will say is that it isn't quite as big as it appears in that some bins are repeats of others. Just based on perception and no actual evidence it seemed like there were fewer bins with the same parts compared to the pre-remodeled PAB wall. Even so, it remains the largest I have seen and the selection was great with some unique parts and basic building blocks as well. It would be nice if it was a little more coordinated though. I found some train wheel holders (2878) but no axles or wheels. Would have been nice to have all pieces there to make a complete assembly but probably a logistical headache.

There were also two 4 sided Build A Mini kiosks. Each kiosk had 2 sets of bins with the necessary parts (2 head bins, 2 torso bins, 2 leg bins and 2 accesory bins) so 2 minis could be built at the same time at each kiosk. The contents were far too jumbled to know what was inside each bin, but they seemed pretty consistent from one to the other. The outdoor displays I thought were a huge improvement over the previous ones and quite exceptional. The outdoor models were amazing with lots of attention to detail, color variety and a well thought out design on Disney themes.

The outdoor building areas are still available although moved to another side of the store. There were several computers available for use in the central part and a breakout room off to the side with a large table of bricks and several computers around the wall.

In general, I would describe the Downtown Disney store as about 3-4 times as big as the mall stores I have been to in my local area with all the benefits that more floor space provides.

Thanks jbrandt77 for the update. We were in Downtown Disney earlier in the month and stopped by briefly to the Lego Store. It was 9PM and it was mobbed.

I thought the store was VERY large compared to the regular Mall Stores.

Also there is a $10 off $75 purchase coupon in the Birnbaum 2011 Guide. It is valid through 12/31/11. It is ONLY valid at the Downtown DIsney Lego Store.

You can also get it at Borders with a 50% off coupon, regular retail is $16.95 so if you are planning at trip to Disney it might be worth getting the book (I actually found it very useful for Disney itself).
