Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
I think they are a a waste of money, and LEGO's time making the new molds for the planets.
It's a $3-$4 miniset with a minifigure and a useless planet. I just don't get the point of them.

I agree, although it is a great way to get the minifigure.
Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
I'm interested in seeing how someone creatively uses the planet half-spheres in MOCs...

Perhaps it might be released in the summer when Series 2 comes out?robertwilliamneil wrote:For some reason, I'm really liking the little Lego Planets (Especially the Death Star). Wasn't there a cloud city/pod car one? Can't wait to see that one.

Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
The planets are cool enough I guess, and a good source of minifigs, but somehow looking at them I can't help but think what a massive waste of the planet's dwindling oil supply they represent. Just more useless plastic junk (packaging in this case) that future generations will curse us for using up all their resources to make. Sometimes, Lego is actually part of the world's problems.
Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
That is the point right there. cheaper sets with mini figs. Mini figs are the selling point now. Maybe they will sell good..if they only have figs in these sets...or they will not. then they stop it. Just part of business of trying new things. I love the mini sets of the ships but the plastic "planets" ...meh..Brick & Blue wrote: It's a $3-$4 miniset with a minifigure and a useless planet. I need a big supply of the Tie Interceptors! I'll have to see what the price difference of Bricklink pieces is to the sets to decide what to do. The "planets" are a real waste, I agree.

Ugh I hate the whole planets deal that they're coming out with. Looks almost exactly like the Hasbro planet version where they had different planets with figures within them i.e. Death Star came with Darth Vader and Endor came with a ewok on a hang glider. Sigh. The Star Wars universe is so vast... if anything start going to the expanded universe and pulling things from video games or comics like the Force Unleashed..

New Pics!! Take a look at Grogall's highly detailed pics, if you haven't seen them. Very nice.

Nice detailed pictures! I am wondering if there are more sets that will be coming out for 2012. It would be disappointing if this was it...
Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
I like the new planet sets. 2.99 I was already willing to pay for a minifigure. I already pay 3.99 to buy polybags at target of smaller models. Extra 3.00 for a planet to hold it in, sure, why not. It's Star Wars, every time I think they are overcharging I'm also surprised they aren't trying to charge more.
Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
it's $10. still alot of money. Polybags are getting way overpriced. Plus minifigures might go up again. But it's SW license, so you have to mark that up.sadowsk1 wrote:I like the new planet sets. 2.99 I was already willing to pay for a minifigure. Flickr user 'THE BRICK TIME Team' has just released a high resolution image of the new LEGO Star Wars game: Battle of Hoth. It includes some very interesting SW micro-figures and even a mini AT-AT Walker, and a Snowspeeder.

Is the first time we've had a real Lego wargame? The micro Tauntaun is cute. Light blue 2x2 jumpers and tons of round 4x4 plates!Legobrandon wrote:Flickr user 'THE BRICK TIME Team' has just released a high resolution image of the new LEGO Star Wars game: Battle of Hoth. Re: 2012 LEGO Star Wars (January)
I was imagining a very different Battle of Hoth set.
1) 32x32 white base plate! :(
2) Shield generator (enemy destroys all four cylinders pieces, you lose)
3) more than 1 AT-AT that looks just as good as the past mini AT-AT polys
Good surprises:
1) Large count and variety of SW microfigs (am I counting 25 shown all together?!)
2) Micro Taun-Taun
I think I may need to construct my own version of LEGO Battle of Hoth.

I like your Shied generator idea !
More AT-ATs and snowspeeders would be great... I may just have to get more than one set heehee, or just some more pieces to build some more
