LEGO Dimensions info Level packs vs fun packs

Post by StClair » Wed Nov 04, 2015 12:01 am

My son really wants LEGO dimensions for Christmas. I think I have general knowledge of the fun packs, team packs, and level packs but am curious what info others that already LEGO dimensions have to offer.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It appears that Level packs (about $29.99) unlock characters and vehicles (in the pack) plus a level in the actual game play AND unlocks the mini world (sort of free roam play) that corresponds with the theme of the level pack. For instance... The Doctor Who Level pack should unlock The Doctor, K-9, and the Tardis. It should also unlock a Doctor Who level in the actual game play AND unlock the mini world for free play?

Team packs (about $24.99) unlock the characters and vehicles plus the mini world that corresponds to the theme for free play.

Fun packs (about $14.99) unlock the character and vehicle and the mini world that corresponds to the theme for free play.

So... any Jurassic World pack (fun, team or level pack) should unlock the characters and vehicles in the pack purchased AND the corresponding mini world? Only the Level pack unlocks the actual level in the game?

Please help me if I have any of that wrong.

Next question... what worlds are included in the starter set? It includes Batman, gandalf, and Wyldstyle. Does this mean that the worlds AND levels for each of these 3 themes (DC, LOTR/Hobbit, and LEGO Movie) are included in the starter pack? Both the levels and free worlds are opened in the starter pack without additional purchases? If I purchase a LOTR fun pack will it only unlock the character and vehicle (no new level or mini world)?

Does one have to purchase a Scooby Doo pack, Ninjago, Chima, Wizard of Oz, Jurassic world, simpsons, Doctor Who, Midway Arcade, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future pack to unlock material for the corresponding worlds/levels? I mean is the only way that I can do anything Back to the Future related by buying a Back To the Future pack? The level in the actual game and mini worlds are locked until a pack is purchased?

It appears that at the moment the only LEVEL packs available are: Back to the Future, Simpsons, Portal, and Doctor Who. There are Ninjago, DC, hobbit/LOTR, LEGO Movie, Chima, Wizard of Oz and Scooby Doo FUN packs... but no level packs for these themes. Also there is a Jurassic World team pack.. but no Level pack. This makes me assume that one can play the levels in the actual game with these themes WITHOUT purchasing additional packs.

I know... I have lots of information and stumbled around a bit. I hope that wasn't too confusing. If anyone has first hand knowledge i would greatly appreciate you answers. Thank you!
