Will MetalBeard's Sea Cow ever go on sale?

I loved Lego when I was young and now that I have a 3 year old I’m getting back into it .. the one set I haven’t been able to justify getting is the Sea Cow .. It wouldn’t be for my son, just for me. Do the really big sets ever go on sale?

Lego exclusives (like the Sea Cow) are prohibited by LEGO to ever go on sale. You might find it reduced if the box gets damaged or something, but generally no. Your best bet is to get it during double (or triple) VIP points days at the LEGO store or LEGO online.,

if you want a deal, buy it direct from lego with they have max freebees.

Never say never. LEGO could put it on sale to get rid of inventory stock at its end of life. 10233 Horizon Express was on sale last month on S@H for 10% off. It was a set on the Exclusives no discount list. It went out of stock quickly though. There is some risk waiting for the sale and getting the dreaded Out Of Stock message.

Seeing as how 2xVIP is essentially a 10% discount, I'd say it's better to pull the trigger during a VIP multiplier promo than waiting to see if maybe there's an EOL 10% discount that only a handful of people get before it's all gone.

I hate having to pay full price for LEGO. However, I wanted this set as soon as I saw it was available so I got it when LEGO had double VIP points. I'm sure that with the popularity of the LEGO Movie this set most likely won't be discounted any time soon.

Do you belong to eBates? If not you will get $10 back with your 1st purchase (Sea Cow) I think the current LEGO Store rebates is 2.5% & Wal-Mart is 1%. Both store will ship the item for free. Around Christmas the eBates rebates go up.. If you have a credit card that lets you redeem points for gift cards you can order Wal-Mart gift cards. It'll be like getting another discount. Plus use can use eBates when using gift cards.
