What I meant was, both the ghostbusters set and this one reached 10k in the same review period so there were two sets made from that review period and none from the following one.

Ah, gotcha, now I see what you meant. Regardless, if Female Minifigure Set wasn't held over we'd have no product from this review period. It didn't "win" over the others, the others weren't deemed viable products each on their own merits. One product being selected from a previous review period is better than nothing at all, no?

Are the female minifigure sets going to be figures with a set display like a 12.99 set? or will they be like the collectible minfigures instead?

I am also disappointed that Zelda was not approved that would have been awesome. Sherlock holmes would have been cool, although I'm not sure what the set would be, maybe baker's street. Oh well it doesn't matter, we will never see them.

Does anyone know if a lego monopoly board game has ever been submitted to Lego Ideas?

It will feature three minifigures and the subjects of their study. Since the name was changed to "Research Laboratory" I'm assuming it will be something like a partial building playset. Reportedly it will be in the $20-$25 range.

Yes, the first official look and review of the LEGO Ideas Research Institute comes fittingly from its creator, Ellen Kooijman (aka Alatariel Elensar). The set stays very true to it's original design and most of the changes seem quite well received from its creator, based on her review. I look forward to getting a couple copies of this set and hope it sells well, encouraging further inclusion of female minifigures in regular LEGO sets and more non-licensed sets from LEGO Ideas.

Better just to link directly to Ellen's blog post with all the pics and her personal review

I think it's an awesome set and will probably end up buying two - one for me and one for my daughter. She's shown a huge interest in math and science this past school year and I love the fact that I can now buy her a LEGO set that can reinforce those interests.
