[POLL] Are you looking forward to the Series 3 Minifigures?

Post by Toys N Bricks » Sun Sep 19, 2010 10:03 pm

Featured Poll: September 20 - October 3

This week's question is on the upcoming LEGO Series 3 Collectable Minifigures. We would like to know if you will be looking forward to these minifigures! With no barcodes, will you still buy all 16 for your collection or will you buy only the ones you want? Or will you not buy any minifigures from this series at all? Comments are more than welcome here.

There are a new minifigs that look really great from series 3, I'm mainly looking forward to the Elf and Fisherman - but I'll probably try to get them all as a lot of them are nice. No barcodes will mean more people will have to rely on trading to collect them all, and thankfully there isn't movie showing off 300 of one of these figs - so hopefully the demand for each one will be more evenly divided among them so that a full set will be easier to trade for.

Series 3 is no match to Series 2 or Series 1. I could not find much excitement from viewing Series 3 image. So, I voted for "Somewhat". This set does cool off the heat of CMS.

I voted yes because I've been hoping that LEGO would make a bat ever since Brickarms did. Now my purist side is happy :)

I'm looking forward to a bunch of them although not having barcodes is going to be a pain to find the ones I want.

I'm really hoping that right now all of those minifigures are still in their preliminary stage because the only two that looks good right now to me are the gorilla and the fisherman. I'm excited for some of the accessories that a few of them have but so many of them are repeats of an already existent piece that it's really kind of sad.

I have to say that I'm pretty disappointed with series 3. There are only a few figures that I like. Mummy which will do well with the Halloween theme. Lego has been consistent in each series by bringing a monster. With that said, I will try to get a box which hopefully yields me 3 sets. One for me and one for each kids. I'm hoping that their are no limits at the lego store and I can buy a box.

I wouldn't bet on that... the limit of 16 is probably going to continue, methinks. At least it isn't a limit of 5!

I voted simply 'yes' - I'm looking forward to CMFs3, because I've always loved minifigures since I was a kid and the CMF are so unique compared to ones we receive in sets... they're like the whacky cousins who don't get invited to a lot of the usual get-togethers but REALLY liven up the party when they're invited.

I'm excited about more sci-fi figures in CMFs3 because of the dearth of such types in CMFs2. I mean we had the Spaceman and Robot in CMFs1, nothing to note in that respect for CMFs2, and now we have the Alien and Cyborg/Space Pirate in CMFs3. Since sci-fi is my main bent in terms of LEGO, that makes me happier with 3 than I was with 2. I don't care that they're using the Squidman head, it looks cool in green. It looks heavily photoshopped in the pics, though, so it could be a mock-up.

The only thing that weighs on my mind is the possibility of a price increase. I'm willing to bet LEGO will keep the price at $1.99 and all other outlets will have them at $2.99.

I am the fans of lego "space" theme, coz' it always reminds me my first lego set(6970) which I begged for it several weeks at 80's. I was excited to see sci-fi figures in S1, and all different alien minifigures from "space police". I could accpet the Cyborg from S3. However, it is a laid-back for re-using the Squidman head.

From second wave of space police, Jawson, Brick Daddy, and Craniac(helmet was copied from skull twin) were introduced because of marketing strategy. The space police development team understood that they had to make new minifigures to attract buyers for the box set. However, in the case of CMS3, it is not a box set and there will be no more BARCODE at the package, they will not be worried about how well the sale of this alien minifigure gonna be coz' buyer will blindly pick them up anyway. Besides, because of the success from S1 and S2, they believe collectors will continue to support S3 not matter how good/bad the set is. So I infer that they were laid-back, and that's one of the reason I am disappointed.

I hope the introduction of Squidman head in CMS3 could attract the attention of lego fans who did not like space police 3.

I just came up an idea for the alien minifigure when I worked out in th gym today. Why can't they simply use the classic alien for the alien minifigures? I mean the bald alien with dome-shaped head and round, black eyes, which is similar to the music band at Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars EP IV. I believe there is no copy-right, isn't it?

Lego Minifigures Series 3 has been the best collection of Collectable Figures yet. Some of my all-time favorite minifigs were released in this wave!
