I believe the exclusive Queen Amidala mini-figure in 9499 Gungan Sub is keeping it from going on clearance. One of the best figure made last year.legohunter wrote:These sets were overpriced and lingered at the shelves since they were released. I am not surprised TRUs finally offers discount, but I actually expect to see 9499 Gungan Sub on sale before 9526 Palpatine's Arrest.
After all, 40% off is a good deal. Thx for the head up.

Tell me about it. I want that fig for my collection and I've been keeping an eye out for sales, but they never seem to come along for this set. To buy just the amidala fig on ebay/BL is about $25, kind of pushing it for my budget/sanity. I've been wondering if this set is at risk of expiring without any real sales for it.dulait wrote:I believe the exclusive Queen Amidala mini-figure in 9499 Gungan Sub is keeping it from going on clearance. Amazon.co.uk has this on sale right now. Works out to $51.80 Canadian shipped for me vs. regular price of $89.99, so even with an extra $10 or so if you get via UPS, it's not a bad deal.Zeya wrote:Tell me about it. Darn you Hodgeman! I already had two, I got them a few weeks ago from the .uk site... same price still. But all the talk in this forum tempted me and I squeezed the trigger and got 2 more! After all, I always like to keep one of everything for my son and I to build :)Hodgeman wrote:Amazon.co.uk has this on sale right now. I never really had any kind of inclination to get Palpatine's arrest, but 40% is a pretty good number.. its actually right around the point where I will get a set that I may not actually want, but end up getting because even against US MSRP it's a pretty good deal. I just don't really see the value in this set at such a high original MSRP.swills wrote:Agree with most of the sentiments already expressed. Palpatine's Arrest is a little tempting as it's a nice selection of bricks and minifigs (none of which I have). However even with 40% off its still > 10 cents per brick, which is the figure I tend to look at when considering buying stuff that I wasn't otherwise planning to get.
I got lucky, I managed to snag a Gungan Sub on clearance at a Walmart for $45 (before tax). Also got a Battle at Helm's Deep for $70. I just can't pass up deals like that, but damn it hurts the wallet.Jasper Parnebrick wrote:Darn you Hodgeman! I already had two, I got them a few weeks ago from the .uk site... same price still. In my experience, if it comes via DHL out of Germany, it will (a) take a while to get to you and (b) come without any fees.KindGrind wrote:Little question concerning this UK amazon Gungan Sub deal...
Do you ever get charged import fees or taxes on top? Also, the UPS fee is random, in case they decide to go with UPS? Thanks a bunch, quite a good price for the set!
All the figures on their own are selling for this sale price on bricklink. If we look at it that way, I guess we are buying the figures and getting the pieces for free. Or, the figures are $36 and the rest of the set $36, half and half. Either way, the original MSRP of $120 is insane, what was Lego thinking, they have better luck making and selling a Ninjago set with this kind of content at that price point than this set. Given this set is exclusive and all, unlike the obiwan UCS set which drop like a rock and funny thing is they are still in stock. So I highly doubt we will see this for more than 50%, because this set come with figures, Jedi mainly, and like the old Echo base, that one is still in stock and did not go on sale for more than 50% I recall.Jasper Parnebrick wrote:I never really had any kind of inclination to get Palpatine's arrest, but 40% is a pretty good number.. its actually right around the point where I will get a set that I may not actually want, but end up getting because even against US MSRP it's a pretty good deal. Means they have a lot of stock still, the 50+% off sale is not far behind, maybe during black friday or near and after christmas.Toronadian wrote:If you still want Palpatine's Arrest, on the TRU website it's still 40% off. Another one of those "errors" that TRU has of keeping a set still on sale price. Let it benefit the rest of you.

The link isn't working and this item can no longer be found from their sites. In fact, after the sale, I didn't see this sets from all local TRUs.Toronadian wrote:If you still want Palpatine's Arrest, on the TRU website it's still 40% off.
