Lego Pet Shop... Time to buy?
I have been putting off buying lego pet shop for a sale... but i have been unable to catch the "pet shop" during a BOGO TRU sale. So is it getting close to that time where prices will skyrocket on the aftermarket and they will become impossible to find in the store. I Waited way too long for the "Emerald Night" and do not want to pay high aftermarket price for this item.
In which order should these items be bought (Most likely @ full retail)
Creator: Pet Shop
Town Hall
Palace Cinema (I think this should be last, but if this is a hot seller out the gate i dont want to miss it)

if you're planning to buy them all, but one at a time, just get them from oldest release to new, which is the order you listed them in. The Pet Shop will be available for at least another year, so you can wait for a sale. Town Hall is currently available on Amazon.com for $180US.

The order of purchase: town hall, pet shop, palace cinema.
Normally TRU excludes the modular buildings in their BOGO promotions.
The prices for the three modular units are not likely to skyrocket for the next year or two.
FWIW: Normally Lego modular buildings stay on the market for a few years.
You don't have to run out and get one right away - but then again you shouldn't wait too long either...

Wouldn't the Grand Emporium be the next one out the door (before the Town Hall or Pet Shop)?

Just dont want to get caught with my pants down.

We also still have the Fire Brigade out, so going by age of set FB->GE->PS->TH->PC.BeMild wrote:Wouldn't the Grand Emporium be the next one out the door (before the Town Hall or Pet Shop)?
@neo, why do you think the Town Hall before the Pet Shop? Granted it's an anomaly (not $150 msrp).
If you're thinking modular, you should also consider the Haunted House. No, it doesn't connect to the others officially, but other than that, it's pretty much a modular.
Re: Lego Pet Shop... Time to buy?
I was at a Lego store yesterday (So. Cal (Costa Mesa)) and spoke to the manager there re retirement of modulars. His take was somewhat different, and did not adhere to the first-in / first-out retirement plan. His sense was that it would be based on what sells overall, and he was further guided by the volumes he saw in terms of stock replenishment at the store.
What I gathered from him was:
Fire Brigade remains the first out, despite an uptick in sales. He said he was not getting any of them in anymore.
He has a ton of the Grand Emporium - and they were selling, so he said he could see a scenario where the Pet Shop goes out first. He said he had very few of them in stock and only receives one or two at a time for restocking.
He also mentioned that Town Hall has not been a good seller at his store, either. Despite a strong debut, sales had really fallen off. He said he could even see that retired at the end of the year as a result.
So, if the Lego store manager is to be believed, it would seem that the only one we are certain to see into 2014 is the Palace Cinema.
