Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Well the 9465 Zombies set is not quite done. My order from Lego.com just shipped today, with my little Police Helicopter. :)
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Nice, I managed to get one last month at S@H too. When I called to order, cs said there was only 1 listed in stock and she couldn't guarantee I would get it - but it ultimately did ship. When you ordered , was it actually listed "in stock" or "call to check availability"?Marcus70 wrote:Well the 9465 Zombies set is not quite done. Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Cool, glad some of these are still showing up.
I got mine last month from S@H also - with a call to check availability and the rep said the same thing (only one in stock, no guarantee!).
You would think with the obvious demand of this set they would just continue making it. I realize in the US it's a Target exclusive; but Target discontinued it. Even if they couldn't sell it through every retailer, they could at least sell it themselves through S@H.

Listed as "call to check availablity", I asked how many are in stock (last time they told me 2 and they wouldn't order it for me as they were sold that morning) and this time the lady said, "I honestly have no idea", but this lady was kind enough to place an order. :)melsig wrote:Nice, I managed to get one last month at S@H too. Glad you managed to get one The-Daryl! It does seem a little strange, but from what emazers was saying in a different thread, all MF (except Haunted House - is that actually sold under MF? I'm not sure) will be EOL by mid-year. I think it's a shame, myself - I quite like the line, as does my son. I've squirreled away several sets so we can put them together this year around Halloween...The-Daryl wrote: You would think with the obvious demand of this set they would just continue making it. I guess these are just the last sets they are turning up in the warehouses? It seems strange to be putting them up for sale one by one. Purchasing one from S@H is completely a matter of luck and timing...
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
i have relatives in japan and bought 4 of them on amazon.co.jp. sent them to their house. if anyone has relatives in japan could be a good idea as this set is fetching a high price.
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
amazon.co.jp no longer has them in stock - just 3rd party vendors.vexxet wrote:i have relatives in japan and bought 4 of them on amazon.co.jp. sent them to their house. if anyone has relatives in japan could be a good idea as this set is fetching a high price.

holy crap. That must have just happened because i bought 4 of them less then 2 weeks ago.
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
It was about a week ago. I use a re-shipping service to buy Japanese toys from amazon.co.jp for my son from time to time. I've been watching The Zombies with some frustration, as I couldn't figure out a way to make it cost effective using a re-shipping service - and I don't have relatives living in Japan!vexxet wrote:melsig wrote:amazon.co.jp no longer has them in stock - just 3rd party vendors.vexxet wrote:i have relatives in japan and bought 4 of them on amazon.co.jp. sent them to their house. if anyone has relatives in japan could be a good idea as this set is fetching a high price.

Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
i appreciate your information. i just thought that not many would use co.jp because of the shipping problems and that legos would be available longer. next time ill pull the trigger as soon as things get retired in the U.S.
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Well they are pretty much out of stock now, since they have not been listed as retire, then we might see one more round of them say maybe around Halloween this year?
Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Wow, that was fast, it was just sold out when I checked yesterday. I feel fortunate (as others on this thread) to get one of the last ones sold at S@H, as I don't want to spend $90-$100+ on bricklink/ebay for a set.melsig wrote:Zombies is now listed as a "Retired Product" on S@H:

Re: Monster Fighters The Zombies done?
Like Marcus, I'm also glad to have gotten one! I'm still surprised it disappeared so fast from Target and Shop@Home... This set lasted what, six or eight months?
TLG business strategy is still a mystery to me, makes me think conversations like this really happen:
Guy one: Hey! Zombies are hot right now. People love this set.
Guy two: They sure do! Let's stop making it! We don't need more sales or to generate interest in LEGO products for people that might not normally be interested.
Guy one: Brilliant!

I have to admit - I'm curious if this has happened before with other sets. Anyone know of a similar case?

The City Helicopter & Limo set (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=3222-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) two years ago qualifies. In the U.S. it was a Walmart exclusive, and was sold out long before most people even knew it existed.melsig wrote:I have to admit - I'm curious if this has happened before with other sets. Hmm maybe the common element is chauffeurs. LEGO hates those little hats. Whether on a yellow person, or a zombie, it spells doom.

Classic. Like the red-shirted crew members in the original Star Trek... you know they wont last long.The-Daryl wrote:Hmm maybe the common element is chauffeurs. LEGO hates those little hats. Whether on a yellow person, or a zombie, it spells doom.
