In the most recent and last Monster Fighters comic included in TLG flyers/ads/magazines the Monster Fighter story is concluded with the moonstones being gathered which summoned the Galaxy Squad bug aliens. This product theme and story is the Monster Fighters replacement.
The Haunted House will be available for an extended period while the theme will not. As well as the Exclusive Halloween minifigure set that includes the popular brown suit zombie, ghost and witch.
I suspect the Vampire Castle will be one of the most difficult Lego Castles to obtain.
thats basically what I've heard from a few reliable sources.
How long did they say the Haunted House will continue on?
It's funny, before the HH, I wanted the Vampire Castle, but now the vampire castle feels a bit generic to me compared to the iconic Haunted House. :)

So what is the moral about how to guess when it's before the last minute? :p
lol point taken. But I had heard about the Zombies set being a limited run right from the get-go, and considering that is an exclusive, and how quickly it would sell out any time it was in stock at S@H, I knew enough not to sleep on it for too long.
The NEW moral of the story is that if you're lucky enough to find something in-stock that was previously hard to find, jump on it before you end up regretting not getting it when the chance was there.
Easier said that done, I suppose. But I wish all who are looking for it the best of luck in finding it at a reasonable price.

And I guess a second 'moral of the story' would be not waiting until the last minute at all, especially if it's a set you really want. Me personally, I have no qualms with paying MSRP for a set that I really want. If worse comes to worst, I know I can always return it if a deal/sale comes along.

Your point is correct. But at the same time, it's not that unreasonable to expect a set to be around for more than 6 months. I don't think most people could even find the zombies set until June. I know that for myself, I took a month or two until I finally was able to find one at Target, and I'm talking with regular-person shopping visits, swinging by the Lego aisle each time. They just always seemed to be low on stock through the whole summer and fall. I can totally see people stalking that set more casually and then end up missing out on it.
The good news is that most people reading this site are probably savvy and diligent enough to snag it if it comes up again. At this point, I'd say if you want it to go ahead and buy it at or around MSRP. I highly doubt there will be any sort of sale on the zombies set.

Ah, see I hadn't heard that.
I've only been collecting since September (Monster Fighters was the theme that really hooked me), after um... 30ish years of "dark ages" so I might have missed some things that were obvious/common knowledge to others.
I had read the series was ending next year and thought I could space my purchases out a bit to get the whole series (especially with holiday budgeting in the mix this last couple of months).
Luckily, thanks to this site, I'm learning a bit more about the hobby, and in time, will hopefully be able to predict these kinds of things :)

^ Well the Zombies set is definitely an anomaly, but there have been sets in the past that have gone through short-than-usual runs. An extremely short run such as this is definitely not the norm.
But like Zeya mentioned, and with regular visits to this forum, you'll undoubtedly be kept abreast on all the goings-on with Lego that you'll ever need!

I'm sure you'll see them come up at LEGO store again. If no other store picks them up, it'll show up as Hard To Find at LEGO.com. I was surprised that my local LEGO store never had it in stock after the initial stock. I had to get it at Target a month ago.

its only a guess but Im thinking Monster Fighters (and Haunted House) will be completely gone (with limited availability on some product) by next holiday season, with most product going EOL during the Summer rotation, and I suspect the haunted house will remain available through the 2013 holiday season.
Whatever happens, its probably wise to start planning ahead for both considering the aftermarket spike in the Zombies set. the Zombie Bride and Groom minifigures are fantastic and VHTF.
again speculation, but its likely the zombies, castle, halloween 3 minifigure set, and haunted house will be pretty rare and costly a few years down the road. All 4 of those sets are stellar.

Will be interesting to see if it disappears forever without being flagged as Retiring Soon.

Interesting to note, the Haunted House at Amazon is no longer in stock. It's now moved to be released on December 31, 2012.

My local Lego Store never even had an initial stock of the MF Zombies sets.

Hmm what causes that kind of thing? (It going from in stock/being sold to being a pre-order, I mean).

A bunch of sets have that statement now. Probably just sold out of current stock and plan on getting more on the 31st.

But what an odd day to get more stock in. I almost want to say they're ducking sales until the new year, but that doesn't really make sense, does it?

I only asked because I was wondering if TLG ever dictates to retailers when things are sold that are classified as HTF. Because it seems like the December 31st is stop selling until after Xmas so S@H gets the sales (well at least for the Haunted House, since we know that is already out, and supposed to be, and for some, a better deal on Amazon - I guess since then many of the new sets have went to pre-order status).
Could also be since they are already in the system, they can't push the dates past the end of the calendar year? Who knows. Just seems strange. But tis the season to be weird :)

Anyone have any experience with "exportprive.com" They show as having the zombies set in stock at $46. I tried to order some, but my credit card declined to do business with them. I'm suspecting it might be a scam....

Credit card declined to do business usually means there is a problem with that company where people have reported before.
