Amazon UK has it on sale.
Anyone have experience with ordering from the UK site that can comment on the condition of the boxes? If more time in shipment = more chances to mishandle the package, is this a bad idea as shipments can take longer and travel further?

I have never done it but for me it a hassle especially with my bank. Any order place outside of the U.S cannot be purchase without a phone call to my bank.

I have ordered once from amazon uk and the box condition was absolutely horrible. The exterior box was crushed and torn. The lego box inside was also crushed and torn. One of the bags was torn open the the loose pieces spilled in the box. It is a miracle none of the pieces fell out of the holes.
I think others have been luckier in regards to the condition of their shipment.

Last Christmas I had some Duplo arrive from Amazon UK in a plastic Canada Post Bag with a message reading something to the effect of "Canada Post intercepted your package somewhere along the way in this terrible condition and we did our best to preserve it."
The box was completely soaked & flattened. It looked like it fell in the English Channel on its way to Canada. The bag was sealed and the cardboard inside was fermenting...lol.

Yeah there is a bunch of those but at that price is not worth it. I just realize the only set I would regret if I miss is the Death Star.
Huh? The "hard to find" sets are never included in the major TRU sales. This is like beating a dead horse at this point. No one who has been following lego sales for the last couple years ever expects the DS to be included in a B1G150% off sale.
Not talking about TRU, talking about Amazon. They had the Death Star a while back for $335.
I did pick up one of those for 335. Everyone active on these forums is familiar with recent sales. The message I quoted was talking about TRU directly. They even recommended that you check your local store. Maybe you skimmed over that part?
335 is a 16% discount and not even close to the same type of deep discount that you seem to be referring to...but good luck with that.
I can't seem to help myself and I always feel the need to click posts and read them even when I have them blocked. I should know better.

Ah. I am a little surprised about all these negative experiences. I ordered a Friends calendar last month. It did take longer to ship but the set arrived in perfect condition.

NO no no I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say that Death Star would get the same treatment as every other Lego set. What I meant was the one set I don't want to miss out on is the Death Star, obviously on sale but it doesn't have to be around $335. Even $350 to 370 will do, just not at $400.

It looks like sets that are sold out are removed from the listing on Yoyo. I'm trying to get the London Escape set. It's still listed, but reads "DISCONTINUED BY VENDOR". Will I still get a chance to get this off yoyo?

I think some sets only show up for sale depending on what part of the country you are in (to have a distro center with it in stock near you). For instance, over the weekend some people could see Vampyre Castle and others couldn't.
Strangely though I was looking at this exact same set (London Escape), and had it in my cart... If I search it still shows the sale price of 39.99 (why I didn't use the toy40, it didn't apply to the sale item), but in my cart it's back to 52.99, with a disclaimer of it will take an additional 2-5 days to process.

I've had a few sets shipped from Amazon.co.uk to Canada... a couple have arrived in perfect condition, but the others have been slightly flattened. The boxes are still in good shape, but you can tell something heavy had been put on the package.

Thanks for your reply! I contacted customer service and they confirmed that, sadly, they won't be selling London Escape anymore. :(

I ordered that exact set on a good sale a while ago. The condition of delivery box was a bit crushed/beaten up. I don't save the LEGO boxes so I don't recall on condition of LEGO box. LEGO and plastic bags were fine.

I ordered the fire temple yesterday afternoon from Amazon UK. Now it is shipped and estimated to arrive this Thursday! The UPS tracking shows it has left Edinburgh and will arrive on time in US. This is amazing to me.

Do they stand a chance against my hopefully not "lost" forest police from the forest police station set?
Here is what they sent me

You have a 1 out of 1000000 chance that it not something big

cause knowing ontrac they constantly get error. I remember my neighbor said he didn't even get his product cause supposedly the ontrac van that was delivering product got stolen
