Its just sad when you have....

Its just sad when you have to deal with thieves in your area.
I was at the local Target and found that both the red and blue Lego portable storage cases with base plates had every single one of them missing the base plates and just a few days before they had them.

Problem is those storage cases aren't sealed. Very easy to transfer plates from one to another.

No no, the problem is stealing. Just because something might be easy to steal doesn't mean it's okay to do so.

Well, the problem is stealing yes, but honestly there's nothing you can do about that, because every person has their own levels of morality. As dr_spock alluded above, what you can do is make something difficult enough to steal so that it's above the person's "line." If the cases were indeed sealed, and they would have to take out a utility knife to do it, that's a whole other line to cross than simply swapping them around.

Me, I wonder how many polys and/or minifigure packs have "found their way" into pockets over the years.

The last few sets I built had the minifigs split up into different poly bags (ex. head in one and body in another), not sure if it was a fluke or they do this to deter thieves. Crazy what people will do over a few pieces of plastic.
