30212 Mirkwood Elf Guard & 30213 Gandalf Polybags Spotted!

Post by lawpepperdine » Sun Nov 25, 2012 2:10 am

Well looky whatI found at my local San Diego based TRU.

Mirkwood Elf Guard Polybag - $4.99
Gandalf Polybag - $3.99

They had about 10 Mirkwood's and 6 Gandalf's. I grabbed four mirks and one gandalf. Very nice looking sets. So heads up all, these are out in the wild, its official.

Oh, and TRU had four different hobbit sets out - Goblin King ($114.99); Unexpected Gathering ($79.99); Battle of the Wargs ($59.99); and the Mirkwood Set ($34.99) - all of these are above LEGO MSRP by $5-$15, but at least they are available. Should be nice when the BOGO 50% hits tomorrow.

I bought the unexpected gathering and the five polys to get me over the $100 mark, and since all sets were regular price (not on sale) nabbed me the $25.00 that was going on today only. So end result after tax was $86 and change for 5 polybags and the Unexpected Gathering Set. I'll take it.

Happy hunting all!!

Thanks. Do you happen to have the UPC for the Gandalf polybag? Thanks again.

One more polybag to get is always a nice addition to the collection. This one isn't as appealing as the mirkwood elf poly though.

Most people who are into Tolkien based sets already have multiple Gandalf the Grey identical to that one.

That is the same map you get in the Bag End set right?...an Unexpected Gathering. They must have produced to many...

This is probably true and it's probably inevitable but lets hope we can all get them before that or this happens.

Trying to think of a reason I would want the Gandalf polybag. It has nice pieces and is a good price with BOGO, but I already have Gandalf. Do I really need duplicates of him? I'll get another exact fig with Bag End set (79003-1: An Unexpected Gathering).

I can see resellers jumping on this with BOGO.

I was able to find a few bags of the Mirkwood Elf. Definitely my favorite minifig poly yet.
I want that printed piece with Gandalf, but I would assume that is in another Hobbit set already.
Actually that would be sweet if I could find a lot of Gandalfs just for my own world of wizards.

Stopped by TRU this morning to see if they'd brought in Gandalf - BOGO does not work with this one, only the Mirkwood Elves. Usual TRU consistency...

As a LEGO Mom, I think the Gandalfs make nice party favors. I'm not about to spring for a $12.99 favor, but $3.99 is within what I'd pay (with a BOGO it'd be even better, of course) and Gandalf himself is a cool minifig.

My Tru had nothing. Either everything was cleared out or they haven't stock any polys in forever. Basically the same city polys was all they had. Ended up picking up a couple series 7 and 8 minifigs though. Just grabbed, didn't feel the bags up :)

I just found the Gandalf set at the TRU by my work. Unfortunately the Gandalf Poly is not included in the BOGO 50% off deal that they have going, even though the exclusion details does not list the Hobbit. Oh well. I didn't have time to fight because I was on my lunch break but others might have better luck.

Any Canadian sightings of the Mirkwood Elf Guard poly in TRU? I love this one -- I don't have any mushrooms yet and the green hood is nice too. I also have a weakness for those gem pieces. Also like the torso print. Too bad you don't get one of those pointy-eared hairpieces, though!

I can see myself buying at least two of these!

Yes. The Mirkwood Elf Guard poly bag would have been perfect if came with an elven hair piece. Now I'll have to buy spares on Bricklink.

Picked up a couple of each polybag today.
Gandalf rang up at $3.99 and doesn't qualify for BOGO.
Mirkwood Elf rang up $4.99 and did qualify for BOGO.
