Bill informs us that starting this sunday, October 28, Toys R Us America will once again be offering a free Monster Fighters Zombie Coffin Car polybag set with $20 Monster Fighter purchase.
Got a tru catalog in the mail, looks like the 30200 Monster Fighters Zombie Coffin Car will be part of a promo starting next week 10/28-11/21, free 32000 (TRU #790037) with $20 purchase of Monster Fighters, also a lame Ninjago "accessory pack" I saw a bunch of yesterday (they wouldn't bring out zombie cars for me, despite their inventory saying 8 were on the floor )-: I did find the Friends desk poly which has the same deal, as well as a hobbit notebook with games, with 5 games listed as 25% off... All the prices in the flyer are at or above msrp, with lots advertised as "save X$ with coupon" with normal msrp being the "sale" price.

Has anyone had any experience just buying the promotional item outright with these TRU things?

I'd like to grab a coffin car but have no interest in actually buying sets there (too overpriced. They have a wed/thurs 25% off sale on Monster Fighters Mummy; they jacked the price up, so that in the end, it was 20 cents MORE than Target's sale on the same item).

The coffin car is not all that and a bag of chips IMHO. The back wheels attach weakly, and the coffin doesn't have a cover. I get it's a car, but they could have included the coffin cover for play beyond the set. Plus the same, tired chauffeur.

I have to agree. It's really not a very impressive set.

Yeah, I'll agree: It doesn't look like the greatest set ever. But -I'd still like to grab one for completeness' sake (MF is the line that got me back into lego). That's the only reason I asked if it was possible to purchase seperately.

The reason that the coffin doesn't have a cover is because the Zombie is driving so fast (see fire coming out of tailpipe) that he blew it off and cant find it.
