I thin Lego is going to Discontinue 75+ Sets soon
Just have a feeling that they are going to "Clean House" in the next few months will all of the next stuff they got going on, espically many bigger sets. They have been hanging onto too many sets. Has anyone seen this drastic of a "discontinue" at once.

I doubt it very much. The onslaught of Walmart deals followed by Amazon matching is very much in align with the store's policy this year specifically to push everything ahead by a month early for the x-mas season including crazy sales. They want your money so they can show their books as having a solid year. Once people spend their money for the holiday, they're not going to spend more. They're counting this being in a crazy uncertain end year with the election and a lousy shopping season, Walmart is taking no chance. I'm pretty sure the store is going to re-stock the items soon.
Google "Walmart early christmas 2012 sale" and see what else they're doing.

Every year it seems Lego does this purging of older products. Some years it seems more than others, but 75 would not surprise me. It seems like more sometimes when whole lines disappear. Generally whatever is listed on sale at LEGO the day after Xmas you can consider done.

I have a feeling Dinos is going the way of the dinosaurs. I'd have liked to seen more of them, too..

You will see discontinuations, but that doesn't mean end of line. Certain themes are going away because of new lines coming out:
No Castle because of LotR
No Pirate beauase of (retiring) PotC
No Ninjago because of TMNT
No Dinos because of Legends of China or whatever
And just because you see 'clearance' sales, doesn't mean they are discontinued. PotC, Atlantis, Cars2, etc. have gone to clearance several times, only to return restocked at Full price.

I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

There's been a few lines like that lately, one, maybe two waves of sets, and that's it. Odd. Kids love dinosaurs.eisenmatt wrote:I have a feeling Dinos is going the way of the dinosaurs. I'd have liked to seen more of them, too..

I heard (from a reliable source) that the line didn't sell well because it was released at the same time as the highly anticipated superhero sets so Dinos was left in the dust.crazybirdman wrote:There's been a few lines like that lately, one, maybe two waves of sets, and that's it. I second this opinion. My daughter loves Dinosaurs, and the Dino line. But Friends were released at about the same time, and our budget is limited---so Dino lost out. Which is too bad, as I think the dinos this time around are really well done. But, hopefully we'll be able to pick up a bunch on clearance.Brickbuilder0937 wrote:I heard (from a reliable source) that the line didn't sell well because it was released at the same time as the highly anticipated superhero sets so Dinos was left in the dust.

Same thing here. Lego almost seems to be oversaturating the market. My kids also love city and star wars. Limited budget, priorities win.SpaceViking wrote:I second this opinion. I agree. It seems LEGO just throws tons and tons of sets out and hopes something will become a hit.
Do we really need 30 Friend sets in a year?
Do we really need 30 Star Wars and City sets that seem to just be recycled stuff from years past?
Lego used to make some sets, they be on shelves for about 3 years and then be retired. Now it seems like Dino came out in January and was retired in April.
Dinos, Alien Conquest, older Creator and City sets (Lego.com still has the airport), Racer, big sets I can see being retired for Black Friday.

Plenty of stuff will probably be discounted on Black Friday - hoping for 25% off on some of them.
Visit my BrickLink store - 10% off if you mention that you're a ToysNBricks member. http://www.BrickAssortments.com

I hope they don't. Those things have served me well for a while.
