TRU Bricktober Week 1 Sale Sept 28-October 4
Re: TRU Bricktober Week 1 Sale Sept 28-October 4
That's actually a pretty neat idea with the display case - can't wait! However, lots of $$$$ to spend to get it all complete...

That was what I have in mind too, but what is more important is what sales will we be expecting in the comming weeks. Hope it is not their typical 20-25% off selected thenes, buy 1 get 1 for xx% off, or buy 1 get xx% off, buy 2 get xx% off...etc, so lame like last year.cupishalfempty wrote:My prediction for the 5th week gift is a Minifig display case. Collect all twenty Minifigs, then in the last week, get a display case to show them off.

Hopefully there will be a few more 50% off sales of individual items. The truck and Obi Wan aren't really that bad of a deal - given that that is the best price it will ever be for the truck (TRU exclusive). Will only jump in if it's at least 40% off.

I'm thinking maybe it will be the 5th vintage minifigure set since there were 5 originally.

Well, sadly, to quote myself, starting Friday, it'll be 20% off all Lord Of The RIngs, Technic, and Dino sets, but keep in mind that all the Lord Of The Rings sets have all been marked up. For spending $35, they will be giving out the Monster Hunter ghost and clock polybag, and $75 for Mini Vintage pack 2. So like last year, week two is pretty weak, hoping week three will be more like week one, else I will thank Toys R Us for helping me to save.dulait wrote:That was what I have in mind too, but what is more important is what sales will we be expecting in the comming weeks. Yes... I just saw the flyer too. That is quite disappointing. I really want to get all the LOTR sets myself (lego AND LOTR fan) but I could pick them up across the border in the US for less, even when I factor in gas, paying the tax on the border AND this 20% discount. And I'm not even talking about amazon.com and getting it delivered to the border. Battle for Helms deep is $114 US on Amazon.com. WITH 20% off its still $143 CAD at TRU!dulait wrote: Well, sadly, to quote myself, starting Friday, it'll be 20% off all Lord Of The RIngs, Technic, and Dino sets, but keep in mind that all the Lord Of The Rings sets have all been marked up. Might just get the smaller sets since they typically arent much cheaper elsewhere.

So since week 2 is so bad for sales... There is no way to get the minifigures? I really was planning on spending through the whole month, but not for those LOTR mark ups. If someone see's a good way to get the freebies besides bricklink let me know! Je Dissapoint!

I believe if they still have them in stock in week 3, then you can make a purchase of $75 and sub in set 2 for set 3. With this week's crappy sale with markups, we surely will see some set 2 left overs. And if week 3 and 4 turns out to be crap then like last year's magnets, we will see them on clearance in November and on. I think someone mentioned on here that the vintage sets scan in at $20-25 each, so they might sell them at that price or at a reduced price.hammer250 wrote:So since week 2 is so bad for sales... Interesting thing when I was in TRU this morning. They are selling last weeks polybag giveaway. Not sure how that works, but there they were, going for $4.99. In the same bin as the Frodo polybags, and some Heroica polys.

Yeah, noticed the same thing at our tru today. Hopefully that means they'll have the ghost poly bags out next week...hatcher wrote:Interesting thing when I was in TRU this morning. It probably depends on how much they've got leftover after that week's promo is over. If they're stuck with a lot left, then they just try to sell them. So lets hope everyone's local store will have tons of ghosts leftover next week!
