Collectible Minifigs Series 2 Pre-Order

Post by sweener » Tue Aug 03, 2010 1:13 pm

Entertainment Earth is offering series 2 boxes for pre-order for $164.99.

Shipping is steep, but no sales tax in most states. Plus think of all the gas and time your going to save. Remember TRU was selling each packet for $2.49 plus sales tax.

Also $5 off your online order of $50 or more. Expires August 10, 2010. Coupon code: couponcabin

$164.99 for 60 packages, add to that the (for me 20.95 shipping) minus the 5$ coupon and you're looking at a total of $180.94. mi
so price per package is 180.94/60=$3.02

TRU charges 2.49+ tax (let's say 8%) which is 2.69$.

Unless I am miscalculating that seems to be not such a good deal.

The extra $20 dollars you end up paying will hopefully make up for your gas and time spent hunting them down if it's anything like series 1. Plus some folks don't have access to a LEGO store or TRU in their area. In my area with the series 1 most stores had a 5 per person/family limit depending on where you go. I agree with toystest that it is not the greatest deal in the world. But hopefully I can sit back and watch the frenzy come September when retailers start receiving them knowing I've already secured myself a box ahead of time.

Plenty of people will pay the ~$20 premium for the reduction in hassle of trying to complete a set in-store. I'm tempted. I got lucky with the first series, so I'm not expecting a second miracle ;)

I ordered 2 boxes for myself and kids. Last time it took me at least 5 trips to different Toys R Us and 3 trips to the Lego store to get 3 full sets to open for me and my kids and then I finally found a sealed case at a toys r us for saving for later. The gas alone I will save from last time will be worth the cost.

if you are buying whole boxes you might as well order from BL. buy them early and get them cheaper and get them earlier too.

don't forget. it's $3.02 ea from EE... do your homework. you can get for about $2.60 now from BL. i would wait a few more weeks for more sellers to appear on BL and get the best price. btw, many are offer free shipping too. not really sure how these europeans get them so cheaply as to offer whole boxes including shipping for much cheaper than EE or borders. massive rip offs by own US companies... that's capitalism for ya!

@WELOVELEGO, BL = Bricklink

I preordered a box from EE because the nearest LEGO store or TRU is an eight hour round trip.
Also it's uncertain if Walmart will sell them yet.

just a heads up for those who are considering buying a box (or two) that one BL seller is now selling for a very reasonable price of about $2.13 ea (or around $130 a box). his shop is in EUR, so price will fluctuate depending the FX. buying a box, including shipping can be cheaper than TRU's $2.49 ea and EE's $165 per box.

TLC did mention that distribution to the americas should be more this time round but do you really want to take the gamble with so many scalpers around? even major (like TRU) and minor (like EE) retailers are scalping?

btw, i'm not affiliated with the shop, just thought i point out the obvious. i'm getting a few just in case things turn sour real fast.

Can anyone convince me that $79 for a full set of 16 figures (opened but complete) is a good deal? Works out to $5 or so a figure...
