Yeah, I believe it is... meaning it's a wash between 10% off coupon now or 10% off in VIP points next month. I guess if your store still has the Monster Fighters car promo set it's a slightly better deal.

hold up, I don't think it's even. Buying now is a much better deal with the 10% off. Right now, you would get 10% off, plus the promo car, plus 5% VIP. On Oct 1st, you will get 10% VIP. A difference of 5% plus a car, or approx $10 cheaper if you buy now.

I would love to get a 10% off coupon, but alas I live about 1200km away from the nearest Lego store.

But I don't believe they have them in the store until the official roll out...so the coupon is moot.
