[WTB] A question for those who found a 50/70%-off Falcon

I know this is a long shot, but figured it can't hurt to ask...

My (awesomely wonderful) daycare lady has two little grandsons who desperately wanted a Millennium Falcon set last Christmas, but their parents thought they were too expensive. Daycare lady wanted to get it for them instead but has been waiting for a sale so, being her "LEGO dad" in our daycare group, I told her that I'd keep my eyes peeled since then. I was hopeful when Target's recent clearance sale rolled around, but my local store never discounted the set.

Is there any chance someone who was able to pick it up for 50/70% off might be willing to sell it for around the same price, plus some extra for your time? I've personally never traded or bought on T&B; I'd most likely get her and you in touch directly to hash out payment and shipment. If it helps at all, I'm a long-standing Reliable Smuggler (basically a trusted buyer/seller/trader) over at FBTB.

Thanks!

You mised most of the better sales. They were on earlier this month in the US with the targets, TRU and Walmart selling off old stock.

The cheapest I could find was from an Amazon reseller for $105 plus 6.99 shipping.

Good Luck.

...?

Yeah, I know I missed them, my area never had them on sale: that's exactly why I posted in the first place. As I said in my post, my hope was that someone who might've picked up multiples at the higher discount would be willing to sell one.

He was just trying to help and this was the best deal he found. Have you tried searching on ebay for resellers that are trying to make a quick profit?

Eesh. I realize that, but replying with a "you just missed all the good sales!" when I'm inquiring for specific help from those who actually had those exact sales in their area smacks of not having read any of my post in the first place. There was a very particular request in my first post that the reply seemed to totally miss.

Anyway, enough arguing... I apologize to fanjo if my reply to his post seemed ungrateful. Though not what I was actually asking for, I appreciate the suggestion.

And the original request is still open. ;-)

It's ok mate. just that I'm over the other side of the pond. Can't send you one. Postage would be too high if you want it cheap. so next best thing is point out cheapest I could find in the States.

if history is any guide (at least it may rhyme), the falcon will likely be clearanced at target.com at around 30% off soon, as well. It might also be listed on sale at LS@H some time soon. My read of amazon's price history is that it hasnt been selling well at the original MSRP.

Does the set have to be brand new? If it is a grandmother buying a toy for her grandkids can it be used? My mother in law buys stuff for our son all the time and at excellent prices online and at yard sales, we just give it a disinfectant wipe and the toy is good to go and she gets them at a fraction of the price. It doesn't seem like most kids care where the toy came from so much as having it to enjoy anyways. There is also a website called bricklink where there are many good vendors selling complete sets that have been only slightly used or owned just for display.

If the set doesn't have to be brand new I have a 100% complete one with instructions I am looking to sell.

This set is now sold online for 20% with free shipping. I'm not sure if tax applies to where you live but I always include that in on the savings.

If you're still looking for one, check Walmart if you haven't already as they have started another round of clearance and some are reporting the MF is showing up as part of this clearance round.

Sounds like a typical Craigslist ad in my neck of the woods. Lol
