I think we need a mod to split off the case/baseplate part of this thread.

I was in Wal Mart tonight, and I can confirm that they carry a Red NInjago project case (the smaller one) which includes a gray baseplate. It's hard to tell looking through the case, but look at the sticker. For those that contain a green baseplate, the sticker showing the baseplate shows that it is green. For those with a gray baseplate, it looks like they printed the sticker in grayscale, but the sticker is color it's just that the baseplate is gray instead of green. Hope this helps someone looking for gray baseplates.

Recently in tru, they had the green lor case and series 7 small Minifigure case, Near the clearance section. There was a slip in the box that said, "this product is not to be displayed in theo Lego aisle." funny. they also had a few larger storage boxes with little plastic wheels. Several had wheels missing.

Anyway, on this topic, is it just me or does anyone else notice these containers have a nasty plastic smell? I usually leave a new one out on the front porch for weeks to degas.

Nice score. I've checked a couple of Wal-Marts around here (Indianapolis) and nothing to be found.

When I was in KMART for Clearance Palooza this weekend, I noticed they started getting the containers in, as well. They are priced at 12.99 or something, but knowing KMART and their eventual clearance, it could be good down the road.

I'm at Walmart right now and they have plenty of the small, flat storage cases available. Unfortunately, no grey baseplate in sight. :(

There also is a black Ninjago case...but it doesn't mention the base plate in the description ($11.99)

I tried looking on Walmart.com and didn't find them there.
I saw the LotR one at Toys R Us today. It contains a green baseplate. :(

It's a dark grey baseplate. Here's a quick picture from my cell.

Has anyone in Canada ever seen this size storage case in stores? Or at least know where it's available? I never even knew it existed!

Actually, I went back to WM today and found a container that had no seals on it. I opened it up and to my surprise there was a 32x32 grey BP inside! The sticker showed a green one so I didn't bother to check and the case was green as well, so it looked as if the BP was actually green. It was the smaller Ninjago ones, costs $9.99 CDN. Didn't pick one up though since I could get one of the larger ones at American WM's for the same price.

I've yet to see these anymore at 3 of the local walmarts.

Are you all finding them in the toy section near the far end where the puzzles and stuff are?

Keep in mind that I'm talking about Canadian Walmarts. But my local store has these in the LEGO section along with a few on the endcaps of the Clearance section.
