[LDD and Bricks] Modular Starfighter
Re: [LDD and Bricks] Modular Starfighter
Thanks, soccerkid6! Yes, sometime last year the analogous post at Eurobricks was featured on the front page.
As for the 'LEGO Creations' forum, I suppose you're right, there are usually a lot of views, not many responses.

Wow, this looks so much better in real bricks than in LDD (not that I had any doubt)! I really like the color scheme as well. It's nice to see you finally have the time and resources to put one of your designs into creation. Hope to see more!

I absolutely love this... even more so after just assembling my first Alien Conquest set -Earth Defense HQ.. I want more Starfighters!!vynsane wrote:Thanks, Skarface!
And, now, for the first time ever... a 'vynsane Modular Starfighter' in REAL BRICKS!
There are some parts that were reworked in comparison to the all-digital version I previously posted. The engine module is pretty extensively reworked and the wings are a little different.

This LDD file you have here.. does this show your reworking? The color scheme really pops. I'd like to make this myself.. Is it as easy as getting a parts list from LDD?
Re: [LDD and Bricks] Modular Starfighter
Thanks, guys!
lordharrier - the LDD file linked with the "real bricks" version is the reworked version. The only difference is that I used four technic pin/axle connectors to connect the wings to the fuselage instead of the two 4L technic axles. I have to admit to a small amount of vertical flex on the wings, and the axles alleviated that flex a bit more than the connector pin/axles.

I need to pop up here more often, great to see that you built it in real life. It really looks great, and one of these days I'm going to have to see if I have the parts to build one of these. They all look like great designs, and this one really shows how much better they look when built.
Re: [LDD and Bricks] Modular Starfighter
Really like the real brick built ship.
The light brick for the engine is great, will have to try to incorporate similar design into a ship of my own.

I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!
Re: [LDD and Bricks] Modular Starfighter
So I got the "LDD to POV-Ray Converter" set up on my Windows 7 virtual machine and got to work on renders of a few of my LDD MOCs. I had already posted my first render, the DbM Swoosher and today I posted the render of my Galaxy Patrol spec Counterblast Mech.
I also rendered one of my Modular Starfighter designs, this time in a different color scheme (the Swoosher was rendered using the same colors as the original version).

Great design, I almost can't tell that it's a render except for the shadow.
Re: [LDD and Bricks] Modular Starfighter
I could have sworn I posted the 'big brother' to the Modular Starfighter system, the Modular Spacecraft system, here... but I can't find it. So I'll just post the most recent one here and link to the Flickr set containing the other two.

"Niuma" Class Courier Variant (GHL Livery) "speed render" by vynsane, on Flickr
While the "Niuma" Class Light Cargo Shuttle performed exceptionally well in modern, standardized spaceports, the same could not be said for outlying galactic fringe worlds that have not had the opportunity to update their aging infrastructure.
The "Niuma" Class Courier Variant was borne of the need to land in non-standard ports where clearance around the under-slung engines of the original Light Cargo Shuttle could be very restrictive. By mounting the engines above the main hull, the footprint of the craft was greatly reduced allowing for more free movement in tight spots.
