missing whole bag in set 10221
I am writing that we receive the set 10221 direct from shop at home lego and found one whole bag missing number 7 which is total of 11 items parts and 34 parts and got message from email about replace parts:
"Thank you for emailing LEGO Consumer Services. We are sorry to hear that your new LEGO set was incomplete. Our production checks are rigorous. We even weigh the boxes electronically before they're shipped to check that there's nothing missing. However, from time to time one or two pieces can be missing from a set, and of course we're happy to replace them immediately."
How can happen with lego that whole bag missing by weight? does they check 99% actual check or do they check every box based on weight? There is only few extra parts. I wonder how that happen.
I would like hear feedback on this.

The reply that you recieved is the standard message sent when you contact them about missing pieces. It's possible that their scales are not designed to weigh such a large set and they just weigh the individual bags for missing parts.

Update:
I receive the replacement missing pieces and build it and everything done. Now, I have extra pieces and total of around 80 pieces. Sound like had extra bag #6 in box 3 and got short other pieces. I wonder that cause error in factory and in batch process?

i had that happened to me once. was the fantasy castle, where one bag was duplicated and the second bag was missing. so it's quite possible that you had a duplicate bag and missing one.

I just watched the national geographic Lego megafactory episode.
For large sets they hand package the item so it is entirely possible to miss putting in bag 7.

Re: missing whole bag in set 10221
my death star was missing an entire bag out of box 3. I didn't push them too much on how it could happen but I thought they same thing about them weighing every bag. I'm guessing it's what Brickbuilder said, that they don't do that with big bags. With the Death Star they also put them in separate boxes so it was missing a 1 bag of 7 out of 4 boxes. I can see how that could get screwed up if it was done by hand.
