has it been confirmed that these sales will apply to the lego stores in the us as well since we don't celebrate boxing day over here?
Re: [US/CA] LEGOShop Boxing Day 2011 LEGO Deals
I can't confirm anything but many retailers have after christmas clearance sales to clear out merchandise and in the past, the "Boxing Day"/day after christmas sale has applied to the US stores as well.lego dad wrote:has it been confirmed that these sales will apply to the lego stores in the us as well since we don't celebrate boxing day over here?

I just ran into the District Manager for all LEGO Stores in Southern California. He confirmed that they will have sale/clearance items when the B&M doors open on Monday morning.
He didn't seem overly enthusiastic about it, so my guess is that the selection and/or discount will not be that exciting. Still, any discount is a good discount, especially on exclusives.

Depends on the store. Many malls open early for Boxing Day, and if the mall opens early, the store likely will. My local store has always opened early for Boxing Day.BrickUpdate wrote:I spoke to someone at the store that said they are opening at regular hours on Dec 26th.

Are there usually similar deals in Europe? I just came out of my dark ages last month so I wouldn't really know.

Any idea what theme or sets may be included? IS there a pretty good metric for looking at when certain sets were released and then when they will go on Lego clearance?
I have so far kept my buying to the starwars and kingdoms lines. Any tips?

There are quite a few lines that are likely candidates:
Kingdoms - we know it is going to be replaced with The Lord of the Rings, so if this isn't disappearing now it will be in the next few months.
Atlantis - Various retailers have been running clearance sales to make way for the new Dino theme.
Prince of Persia - It's surprising this theme is still around anywhere, but it is.
Toy Story - see Prince of Persia above
Pharaoh's Quest - This is going to be replaced by the Monster Hunters in mid-2012, so if these don't hit clearance now, they will be soon.
Harry Potter and Pirates of the Carribean are on borrowed time. I predict that some major retailers will be dropping them now, but Toys R Us and LEGO store will most likely keep them on the shelves a bit longer.
What's slightly harder to predict is which City/Creator/Technic sets will be disappearing. With the new forest police and fire, how many of the old police and fire sets will be retired?
We know that Cars, Hero Factory, Star Wars, and Ninjago are coming back, but again some old sets will disappear to make way for the new sets.

Yes...I would like to see the Kingdom Joust released and retired on the same day...Ice wrote:My suggestion is go to ToysRUs Canada and get 50% off Atlantis, Kingdoms and Pharaoh's Quest.

I do like that idea! 50% off on the release date sounds like an awesome deal.gabriellee11 wrote:Yes...I would like to see the Kingdom Joust released and retired on the same day...

At the Lego KidsFest in Hartford earlier this month, they were selling off all remaining Pharaoh's Quest sets at 50%. I had no interest in these earlier, but I'll buy virtually any Lego set at 50% off. As it turns out, the sets I bought were fun and unique builds.

For that deal, I'd take four!gabriellee11 wrote: Yes...I would like to see the Kingdom Joust released and retired on the same day...

I think any "white box" SW lego sets. Namely Landspeeder. I plan on buying 2. I think the Fire Brigade as well.

I just noticed all the "sold out" items (except the HP sets) are removed from the site but who knows, they could come back on 12/26 to taunt us...

Would be amazing to get the Fire Brigade at50% off, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high, 20-30% off is good too. If this is going to happen, it will be my first ever modular building. Might also try and ship out this order to Point Roberts and save some cash, but might get dinged at the border.

What do you mean by "Get Dinged".? Isn't Point Roberts in WA and you're in BC? Only reason i ask is that i buy almost exclusively in the US, even though i live in Ontario. I am only 20 min or so from the border and have a UPS box in NY. The only "Dinging" i have to deal with are the Cdn HST tax based on the US sale amount in Cdn $$ at the current Xchange rate. So, when i am shopping i compare the item in Cdn$$ VS US $$ (Considering the Xchange rate is almost par). I have to pay taxes either way. The best part is when CBSA doesn't bother asking you to go in and pay your taxes... Then it's an even better deal!!!! It's always less buying in the US for me.....Legobrandon wrote:Would be amazing to get the Fire Brigade at50% off, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high, 20-30% off is good too. @UnknownUser Hopefully all of the sold out items were removed from LEGO Shop so that they avoid last year's issue - where sold out items appeared with a 50% off price, frustrating customers who thought they missed out on a great deal.
