I'm really suprised that everyone is lining up just for the LEGO. But seriously, all this hoarding/grabbing multiple sets is just wrong. If the store had a lot and enough for everyone, OK then. But if your grabbing almost all of the stock and not leaving some for others, then thats NOT OK.
So glad that I didn't have to go this mad rush today as I'm not into these 2 sets.
But I really think that the person who grabbed 5 of each set should have thinked about others.

I agree, that is really nice of you! You should give yourself a pat in the back.dulait wrote:That was really nice of you.Legobrandon wrote:Just came back. We were the first ones to line up at the entrance. This store has 3 entrances, one inside the mall, two outside. I lined up at the one closest to the escalators. We arrived 20 mins early, and after a while the line started to grow to about 15-20 people. When the doors opened I sprinted up the escalator to find a table with about 20 City Corners and 20 Blizzard's Peak. I grabbed two of each. Within 40 all of them were gone. The City Corners were the fastest to go out of stock. Since I had an extra one of each, I gave them to unhappy parents who lined up for nothing. At the register, the lady allowed me to use both the 15% off discount and the Gift Card coupon, she even allowed me to use the gift card on the purchase. At fist she said we were only allowed to use one coupon, but then I told her the Zellers employees said we can combine both offers. I think this sale would of have been better if they only allowed 1 type/theme per person, so everyone will have a chance at getting one. Some moms got 5 City corners and 5 Blizzard sets. So after taxes, the total came to $47.10

Yes, Zellers should of have hidden all of the sets at customer service, and hand out 'tickets' to each person, so everyone would get what they want, only only one of the item.Ice wrote:I'm really suprised that everyone is lining up just for the LEGO. All the Walmarts in my area were out of both sets, one of the store managers said theirs were all bought out last night and then price adjusted this morning by someone(s) ?

My local Zellers has limited 1 item per customer, so nobody could grab more than one box of City Corner.Legobrandon wrote:Yes, Zellers should of have hidden all of the sets at customer service, and hand out 'tickets' to each person, so everyone would get what they want, only only one of the item.Ice wrote:I'm really suprised that everyone is lining up just for the LEGO. Very smooth in this morning. No lineup. Only ten customers gathered at the door 5 minutes before door open. The store carried about 24 boxes of City Corner and 30 boxes of Blizzards Peak(I am totally not interested in it because I don't need those color brick to build my stuffs). City Corner were all gone in 18 minutes, but Blizzards Peak were very slow. The store allowed stacking up the coupon, so I got $10 gift card out of door.
Thx for the post.

I really like how your store handled this sale. I think our store had about the same quantity. Many parents weren't able to get the City Corners, and they had to take the WR one, lots of them were making calls probably to their kids asking if they wanted the WR one. IMHO, I don't even know why LEGO priced the Blizzards Peak at $80. Totally not worth it at the price, all you get are three vehicles and some boulders.legohunter wrote:My local Zellers has limited 1 item per customer, so nobody could grabbed more than one box of City Corner.

Have you seen the new Ninjago sets? They are mostly vehicles but their research team told them that they will sell. Maybe because they are Ninjago(the hottest theme lego had going for them at the moment)?Legobrandon wrote:I really like how your store handled this sale. Blizzard Peak was also on sale at TRU a few weeks back for 50% off - I believe it was their timed sale - after 6 pm or so. An interesting set if you're into the World Racer series...
Visit my BrickLink store - 10% off if you mention that you're a ToysNBricks member. http://www.BrickAssortments.com

Yup (also a few Pirates of the Caribbean). But I'm starting to get sick of all the new Star Wars sets. I used to collect all of them but now selectively because the new models are geting so lame these days. All LEGO is doing now is jacking up the prices by throwing a bunch of new minifigures. :(legohunter wrote:So, you just collect Star Wars theme and Modular Set, don't you?Ice wrote:So glad that I didn't have to go this mad rush today as I'm not into these 2 sets.

It's the fun and the challenge of the hunt like trying to get a Nintendo Wii back in Christmas 2007.Ice wrote:I'm really suprised that everyone is lining up just for the LEGO.

I remember when every single store was sold out of the Wii. Now, every electronics store is drastically discounting them.dr_spock wrote:It's the fun and the challenge of the hunt like trying to get a Nintendo Wii back in Christmas 2007.Ice wrote:I'm really suprised that everyone is lining up just for the LEGO.

Re: [CAN] Zellers Save $50 on City Corner & Blizzard 's Peak
I showed up about 10 minutes before store opening at one of my local stores. There were probably another 10 people waiting as well. Probably half of them were there for the LEGO. When the opened the doors I bee-lined for the LEGO section and walked right past the aisle display of City Corners/Blizzard's Peak. As I was scanning the LEGO aisle a nice lady out by the display called out 'The LEGO is over here'. I went over and picked up 2 of the City Corners, a minute later everything was gone. They probably had 8-10 CC and 2-3 BP. I would have liked to grabbed more but since they had so few that's all I came away with.
I stopped at another Zellers about 45 minutes later on the way home. They no CC/BP left but for some reason had put out a few Skull Truck 2506 & Jedi Shuttle 7931 (both reg $79.99) on sale for $29.99 with a hand written sticker. I grabbed one of each and left another 3-4 on the shelf. My son will love the Skull Truck, and the Jedi Shuttle has some cool minifigs.
We built up one of the CC last night and added it to our town layout, it's a pretty cool set IMHO. A fantastic deal at $30.

The Star Wars Shuttle and the Ninjago Skill Truck are much much better deal then City Corner and Blizzard Peak. I rather have those 2 any day!markg11cdn wrote:I showed up about 10 minutes before store opening at one of my local stores. There were probably another 10 people waiting as well. Would you look at that? Some guy is already selling both sets for $50 bucks each: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rch/t ... 52272.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: [CAN] Zellers Save $50 on City Corner & Blizzard 's Peak
Yargh, I hate resellers. Well, I only hate them when they snatch up multiples of sale items just to turn around and sell them for a profit when they are many people (like me), who would have loved to have just one for themselves.Legobrandon wrote:Would you look at that? Interesting to see that TRU Canada is selling Blizzard's Peak for $84.99, $5 over MSRP, for what I assume to be a fairly unpopular set.

Yes, the price is up. However, it is still a better choice to acquire the rare minifigures from new release set than from feebay. For example, I got both "Captain Rex" and Luminara Unduli" from 7869 Battle for Geonosis, "Commander Cody" and "Ki-Adi Mundi" from 7959 Geonosian StarfighterIce wrote:All LEGO is doing now is jacking up the prices by throwing a bunch of new minifigures. :(

Re: [CAN] Zellers Save $50 on City Corner & Blizzard 's Peak
So, I realize this thread is a bit out dated but I think I'll share my story. I'm in Ottawa and there wasn't much lineup at the Zellers I went to. I didn't know about the other coupons I could have combined either, however at the register my City Corner rang up at $79.99. Much to suprise of myself and the four people behind me also holding the same lego sets. Point out the flyer, she rings it up at $29.99, then I say 'Scanner Code Of Practice? :D' The Cashier looks at me confused but there's a manager there with an unhappy look on his face. They took $10 off the $29.99 price since it scanned wrong (This is when those people behind me in line started grinning but I suspect the manager was going to fix the SKU price in the system right after me) Then they put that 10% discount ontop. So all in all I paid $17.99+Tax for City Corner.
Not bad, huh? :)

I wish mine rang up at original price. Some stores do not honor the SCOP.AshleyAshes wrote:So, I realize this thread is a bit out dated but I think I'll share my story.
