Concerned about quality Minifigs

It seems that the newer non-licensed sets are lacking in quality minifigs.
Most are boring and not unique in anyway.

Is this due to them putting time an resources into licensed themes and CMF?

TLG needs to be careful to not loose focus of the big picture.
Sometimes minifigures sell original themed sets too.

Anyone else noticed this?

I can say that the new wave of Kingdoms sets has sufficiently unique minifigures. The Mill Village Raid set has a bunch of nice peasants (not to mention animals), the blacksmith set has a blacksmith with new torso/legs, and the King's Carriage Ambush has a new king clothing. Even the prison set has some new faces and new horse barding, iirc. So basically I disagree at least with Kingdoms.

What themes were you referring to? City?

IMO, based on the pics, minifigures from Alien conquest series are not bad. All aliens are unique and cool. Reporter and business man in suit are bonus to this theme set, they could fit in to city and modular.

I agree, the City figs leave something the be desired but AC,PQ, NG and even the last space police sets had dome really cool figs.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with the sentiments that it's more a lacking in CITY than in non-licensed themes. PQ, ATL, AC are all still available in stores and have cool minifigures. Honestly, I think it's always been that way, though. Real life is boring ;)

Not really, I found minifigures from city theme are boring too. May be characters from CMF are too good.

Yeah ... I agree with you. If the manufacturers listened to their customers then they may actually be creating mutual satisfaction -- for both the customers and the business! Of course, with higher quality the price may be driven up but I think most would be willing to pay the price for better quality.

There's interesting stuff to be done IMHO in some non-police, non-robber, non-fireman real life, but the CMF are begining to fill in those holes. Cheerleader is an excellent example of that.

I'd like to see the garrison cap be made. It could be for scouts, Veterans(to avoid the modern military), and for sushi chefs and short order cooks. Sideways It could be a traditional nurse cap.

A CITY restaurant set. Not a cafe, but a diner, or a fast food joint, a sushi place, or a steakhouse. I'd really like to see that.

My problem is the fact that all these themes get cool new minifigures and City gets the same trash for the last 10 years. I don't know why LEGO can't add some more faces to the City line at the very least. Agents and AC both have / had better civilians than City has gotten in years.

I rather agree. Heck, even recycling the civvy/Muggle clothing from Harry Potter would be nice. Better than yet another minor update of the police or fire uniform.

Here's a thought: Dark Blue Suit, white shirt and a red tie. That alone would be a widely versitle figure that would add some visual interest.

A sleevless lower cut top for females. You can use alone, of combo it with a skirt slope to make a fancy MODERN dress(something I think lego has never done)
