Seeing as City and SW both seem to be about as popular from the recent poll it would seem logical that city would have it's own sub forum. In my opinion train is part of city, so that combination would work well.

Thanks for the input. City was by far more popular than I expected from last week's poll. I thought Prince of Persia / Indiana Jones would come up second after Star Wars but I was wrong.

Also, forum members are now allowed to revote and select multiple options as well.

It would be my guess that city (and train/creator) are so popular, because they are very old themes, I remember most of my sets 25 years ago being city and they are still for sale. They are of course newer and more modernized, but the essence remains the same. My son now in his turn seems to favor the city theme as he recognizes what he is building (compared to the more fantasy based theme's).

just my 2 cents

i voted for 'off-topic/chit-chat' which is basically ubiquitous on chat boards, 'buy/sell/trade' which is basically ubiquitous on toy/collectible chat boards, and 'other' because a 'suggestions' forum is rather standard fare as wel.

There is a suggestion forum here and used to be in the "LEGO Contest & New Members" area. But to make it more visible, it is now in the Adminstration area. Thanks for the tip. It looks to me buy/sell/trade and city will be pretty close in this poll.

Would it be possible to include creator on the city/train forum?

good move, it makes more sense there. frankly, i didn't know it existed - although, since it's still not its own 'sub-forum', i missed it at first glance. i didn't realize it was in the forum description for 'administration'. generally it is a sub-forum unto itself, so i would 'administration' would be useful for policy and announcements, and 'suggestions' would be on the same level as 'administration', by its lonesome. that way you can put 'administration' on lock-down for only mods and above to post in, for instance.
It looks to me buy/sell/trade and city will be pretty close in this poll.
i would say, though, it would be best to generalize. you don't want to pigeon-hole yourself, you want to let the discussion and members grow organically. if someone came upon a forum and all it said was 'discuss LEGO CITY here', it might turn away SPACE or CASLE enthusiasts.

i don't think you need to say 'this is the CITY section' - perhaps it would be better to have an 'original themes' sub-forum and a 'licensed themes' subforum. with PHPBB3, you can then even sub-divide those further into sub-sub-fora like 'city, atlantis, creator, trains...' and 'star wars, prince of persia, toy story, etc...' if deemed absolutely necessary to striate in that way.

alternatively, instead of sub-fora, you could create new categories for 'licensed themes' and 'original themes' (on the same level as, say, 'general' and 'community' and then place the sub-fora therein.

Good ideas you got there vynsane. Hopefully there will be enough traffic for that many forums. Thanks and keep the ideas coming !

With 43% of the votes aimed at Buy/Sell/Trade, the new forum will be part of Sales & Deals. Thanks to all that voted.
