Everything lost before February 12

Post by Ice » Mon Feb 14, 2011 1:38 pm

While working on the site, there was an unfortunate error and everything before February 12 was lost. This includes newly registered members (around 20), all topics, posts, pictures, and files. However, I did managed to retrieve all the articles on the front page as well as the reviews for the contest though. You guys will all hate me now...

The good news is that I managed to fulfill this request so you can now just click on the "LEGO Forums" tab and you'll be redirect to the forums. Also, all links in the forums now open in a new tab/window rather than on the same one. If you see any problems, please let me know.

I noticed that - been there before, but lost a LOT more one time. That taught me to take backups on a regular basis... on that note, I think I'll make a mental note to do so soon, it's been a while...

Also, good show on the link ;)

I'm having trouble logging in from my cell phone. It tells me I've successfully logged in but then won't give me access to the Sales/Deals Forms and directs me to log in, when I do it re-directs me back to the log in page rather than to the sales/deals page. It could be a hardware problem on my end but I never had any trouble before.

Occasionally when i access the site on my iPad (using 3G) it tells me i tried to many times to log in, even when i only tried once, so may be a problem with mobile devices or cell service.

Maybe not. I just got the "you tried too many times" message today when I tried to log in from my desktop, and it was my first try.

Can you guys PM me screenshots of this? I never encounter any problems like this. Did this just started happening or has it been like this for a while already?

I logged in with my correct user name and password, but it told me I got it wrong and then made me do the code test. Not a big deal, but never made me do that before. And no I didn't type it in wrong, the computer saved the user name and password.

Seems like everyone is having a different problem with the login system. Try clearing the cookies and history in your browser. Also, click on "Delate all board cookies" located at the bottom right of the forum index page.

Thanks to those that PM me. The problem is what like legitimatealex said, someone has been trying to access your accounts. After 3 tries, they fail and thus forced to do the confirmation security code. This also caused a disruption for those that used the "Log me on automatically each visit". The next time you login, the problem should be gone. Unforunately, there is nothing I can do about it. I can't stop people from guessing your login info. But what I would recommend is making your passwords more difficult to guess with combinations of numbers, letters, capitals, and symbols.

Thanks for the update. Weird that someone would be accessing account info on a website that I don't really store any real personal information on. Someone jealous of my 'Top Poster' title? :P

They're targeting our forums and doing random guesses on some of our accounts. I just encountered that problem yesterday myself. Most likely, they're trying to hack into real users' accounts so they can spam ads cause our registration system is getting tougher for them to register.

This just happened to me a few minutes ago. Never had any trouble before. I manually type my password each time. I know that no one else at my house would try to access this site. You sure there's not a bug somewhere?
