Borders Lego Party Nov 6th

Was at Borders today killing time and noticed a sign that said Lego Party November 6th, 2pm.

I couldn't get a lot of details from the sales associate but she thought my 6 year old would be ok at this as long as I was there to assist. Notice the sign says recommended ages 8-12.

This was not my local store so when I asked if my local Borders would be doing this as well, she said yes but to call to confirm time.

Does anyone know if Borders has done this before and if so what it's like?

My son had fun @ this, me not soo much. Started exactly at 2pm, glad we were early. There were 30 kids and when a family showed up 10 minutes late the sales person politely told them that it was too late. At the end it was clear that she only had 30 prizes to hand out and that was why.

She read some quick info about lego atlantis and the various characters names, etc..
Split the children into two groups: Warriors and Guardians, I think.
Each group was asked questions and when they got them right, they were then given simple riddles to solve.
The riddles told them spots in the children's section of the store that had hidden key cards.
The sales lady was giving hints and helpful like a teacher.

Then the kids rushed off to find the hidden cards. Once all cards were found the kids gathered again. Each card had a letter on the back. The kids wrote down the letters and were to unjumble them to find yet another spot in the store that had a hidden treasure chest.

Once this was done the sales lady had a few kids take turns pulling a string to unlock the home made treasure chest box. Inside were sets of 30042 that each child was given.

Overall not a bad experience but my son is 6 and is just learning to read and write (I know the sign says 8-12). It was also crowded in the children's section with 30 kids and more than 30 adults. But I would take him again.

the borders store near me only handed out cmf s2 bags. apparently the staff was out sick. :|

I didn't look at my watch when we left. It felt like it went fast but with that many children and the trivia questions and the searching, I'm guessing it had to be at least 45 minutes.

The event at my local Borders was pretty similar to yours, although they were turning people away before 2pm because of the limited number of sets they had to give out, and were (that I could see) only handing out prizes to the winning team.

It was over and done with by 2:30, but my kid had a lot of fun playing the game, and was even more happy when her team won (although not being a fan of the Atlantis line at all, her prize is still unopened!).

We got there a bit late & my stepdaughters (and several others) got to jump in and draw their team. Plenty of mini subs to go around. The selection was kind of limited, but they did have some newer stuff. The kids enjoyed themselves.

We also got there a little after it started, but they were completely unprepared and did not follow the instructions for the event. The guy just handed out the little sets to build and when it was all done he gave us several of the leftover sets and pieces. My son ended up with 8 new Atlantis figures and little subs. :D
